Di Tian moved to strip Taishang and Yuanshi of their Pan Gu Orthodox Sect identity after judging their conduct disrespectful. Tong Tian offered his own life to spare them; rather than gratitude, Taishang and Yuanshi developed resentment toward their younger brother and blamed him for their humiliation. 81 92

When Yuanshi proposed eliminating Tong Tian, Taishang remained outwardly cold and guarded while assessing his brother's intentions. The two eventually led Tong Tian into a death trap in the Extremely West Land, then fled when the Ferocious Beast Bai Hu awakened, abandoning him to the danger. 92 93 96

Afterward, Taishang and Yuanshi sought positions in the Heavenly Court in hopes of obtaining Corpse Severing Treasures suited to their paths. Hong Jun later bestowed treasures upon Taishang and other powerful figures to bind them through obligation and advance his own designs. 98 124
