Golden Cicada's reincarnation

Xuanzang was Golden Cicada in a previous life and underwent ten reincarnations before becoming the Great Tang monk Chen Xuanzang. At the Water and Land Dharma Assembly in Chang'an, he was regarded as a leading Buddhist teacher and sworn brother of Emperor Li Shimin. 186 213

Bodhisattva Guanyin, acting under Myriad Treasures Buddha Ancestor's orders, persuaded Xuanzang to travel to the Western Heavens for true scriptures. Li Shimin reinforced the request with appeals to the Great Tang's stability, leaving Xuanzang little room to refuse. 186

Journey for Scriptures

Xuanzang departed Chang'an with a Pass Document, Purple Gold Alms Bowl, white horse, kasaya, staff, and hoops. His early journey immediately exposed his lack of experience with Yao and Mo: General Yin's Tiger Yao captured him before Taibai Jinxing intervened. 187

At Five Elements Mountain, Xuanzang removed the Buddhist post suppressing Sun Wukong and accepted him as his first protector-disciple. He later gained Ao Lie as his mount, Zhu Bajie as a disciple, and Sha Wujing as his third disciple. 187 188 192 195

The journey repeatedly tested Xuanzang's resolve through Rahula's demonic influence, staged tribulations, abductions, and humiliating ordeals. Though often frightened, exhausted, and openly resentful of the trials, he continued westward. 194 195 205 211

After fourteen years and eighty-one tribulations, Xuanzang reached Spirit Mountain, received the true scriptures, and was named the Sandalwood Merit Buddha. He was immediately assigned another mission to educate sentient beings and further stabilize the Seal. 213

During a fan gathering at Great Ci'en Temple, Dao Xuan drafted Xuanzang for a mission across All Heavens and Myriad Worlds and gave him the Merit Keyboard. Xuanzang reluctantly departed with Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie, Sha Wujing, and Little White Dragon. 217 218

In the Source Core Pure Land, Xuanzang used the keyboard to confront the Vajra Realm Data Barrier and discovered its ability to summon his disciples. He later upgraded it with Chaos Relics, Star Sand, and Primordial Violet Qi, gaining Administrator Highest Authority. 218 220

Xuanzang acquired the Jade Purity Programming Technique while defending the Great Desolation sects' Dao lineage backups. He subsequently upgraded the system to Primordial World 3.0 and led his group against the Cyber Great Sage. 225 227
