Background / History

CANC began in 1860 as a small, impoverished society of people interested in supernatural phenomena and environmental protection. Its founders pooled their funds to buy a Mediterranean island as headquarters, but the organization was nearly dissolved after the island was erased shortly after its establishment. In an alternate timeline, Lan Mu restored the island and joined the group, allowing it to continue. 719 720

Its early members regarded Contained Objects as errors of the universe: phenomena to be studied and contained rather than exploited. Adonis, CANC's Zero One, argued that humanity should rely on itself instead of using such objects for self-destructive ambitions. 720

Over the following century, CANC developed into a secret global power with wealth comparable to nations, assets exceeding Europe’s combined economic systems, and agreements with more than one hundred governments. It contained hundreds of supernatural entities while keeping public society outwardly rational and unaware of their existence. 57

By the Kuala Lumpur incident, CANC could directly assume control of local supernatural cases through presidential authorization. Bai Ze classified Lan Mu’s Nine-tailed Fox form as the provisional Beta-class threat Beta-953. 49

CANC later organized the International Space Group to resist the Zerg threat on the Moon and compelled international cooperation through technology sharing, pooled researchers, and containment agreements. 225 239 254

Its conflict with Lan Mu and the Blue White Society escalated after CANC purged Vampire infiltrators from the International Space Group and deployed Fantasy Weapons against them. CANC eventually evacuated its worldwide positions, rebuilt around Sea Star, expanded its Enlightener force, and made a final unsuccessful stand against the Blue White Society. 332 340 640 641

Doctrine

CANC’s central purpose was the protection of humanity through control of the unnatural. Its members viewed humans as the most “natural” beings and considered uncontrolled supernatural phenomena a threat to civilization. 57 157
