Background / History
Tongtian leads the Jie Sect, whose doctrine holds that all things possess a thread of life worth seizing. He comprehends this doctrine ahead of time and openly defies Hongjun and the future Saints to protect Chu Yan and the Human Race. 11
Although originally a Heavenly Dao Saint, Tongtian identifies himself first as Pangu Orthodox, having been formed from Pangu’s Primordial Spirit. He learns that Hongmeng Purple Qi was fused into and sealed within his Primordial Spirit, and later discovers that Taiqing and Yuanshi stole portions of his origin during their manifestation, leaving him born later and initially weaker. 44 277
His protection of the Human Race becomes an overriding conviction. When the Human Race Destiny is scattered, he enters a demonic state rather than allow the Saints to seize it, declaring that he would sacrifice the Jie Sect and even his Saint position to stop them. 39 He ultimately retains the position at that time because both the Jie Sect and Human Race still need his protection. 40
Tongtian later publicly abolishes his Heavenly Dao Saint position, renounces Hongjun as his teacher, and returns to Pangu’s legacy. His cultivation falls to the Quasi-Saint limit, but he reveals that he had secretly cultivated another path since the end of the Witch–Yao era. 389 390 404
Personality
Tongtian is fiercely defiant, direct, and unwilling to submit to Hongjun or the Heavenly Dao. He repeatedly chooses open confrontation over compromise, even when facing multiple Saints or risking the destruction of the Primordial World. 106 132 325
He is deeply loyal to those he considers his responsibility: the Human Race, the Jie Sect, Pangu’s legacy, and his disciples. His grief over humanity’s suffering drives him into the demonic path, yet his central obsession remains protecting the Human Race. 39 40
Despite his aggression, Tongtian is capable of long-term planning and self-reflection. He creates an independent second self to preserve his Dao, secretly develops Magic Power Entering Sainthood, and teaches his disciples that the Intercepting Sect’s “sliver of hope” must be seized through their own efforts. 303 345 404
