Background / History

Houtu fought alongside the other Ancestor Witches during the Witch-Monster conflict. After Chu Yan assured her that transforming into Reincarnation would not mean her death, she led the Twelve Ancestor Witches in going all out and urged them to condense Pangu's True Body. 84

Chu Yan later presented the Ancestor Witches with twelve Pangu Primordial Spirits. Because each carried Heavenly Dao-imprinted Hongmeng Purple Qi, the group chose to destroy the imprint in one spirit and have Houtu fuse with it instead. 94 The fusion showed Houtu the Witch Race's future and convinced her of Chu Yan's foresight; she subsequently thanked him sincerely. 95

Rather than immediately cultivate the Nine Revolutions Primordial Technique, Houtu chose revenge. With Chu Yan's assistance, she attacked the Heavenly Court alone, devastating its structures and Yao Race forces while challenging Di Jun and Eastern Emperor Taiyi. 95 96

The Star Dou Great Array grievously wounded her, but its pressure drove her beyond the limits of an Ancestor Witch. Houtu forcibly achieved Body Becoming a Saint, then shattered the array by breaking its Space and Time Law blockade at great cost to her essence blood. 97 99

During the final struggle over Reincarnation, Houtu declared in Pangu's name that she would embody Reincarnation, rule the Six Paths, and have the Witch Race guard them as ghostly soldiers and emissaries. The Heavenly Dao's Five Saints attempted to suppress her, but her act ultimately established her as the Great Dao-recognized Dao Ancestor of the Earthly Dao. 105 110

Houtu retained both her positions as an Ancestor Witch and Earthly Dao Ancestor. She separated a trace of her Primordial Spirit and essence blood to create a new Houtu, the Thirteenth Ancestor Witch, allowing the Witch Race to again complete the Twelve Du Tian Shen Sha formation. 112
