Background and History
A century before Dawn’s arrival in the hypothetical world, Kars became the Ultimate Lifeform and conquered Earth. His regime eradicated most of the human resistance and divided surviving humans into “wild” and “domesticated” classes. His immortality is genuine rather than Stand-based: he can adapt instantly to attacks and environments, continue functioning in space, and grows stronger over time 25 27 33.
Kars becomes unsettled after dreaming of the world’s destruction. He summons the fortune-teller Spirico and has Rolling Stone examine his fate; the Stand forms an image of Earth and Kars’s face, predicting his death. Later dreams identify Dawn as a “demon” fated to destroy the world, prompting Kars to pursue him in Italy 29 38.
During the confrontation, Kars overwhelms Dawn’s group. He ignores King Crimson’s Time Erasure, calls himself the embodiment of Earth’s will, copies Dio’s time stop after observing it, and absorbs Dio. Dawn ultimately traps Kars beneath an unprecedented supercell thunderstorm, repeatedly striking every fragment of his regenerating body with lightning 39 41.
Dawn uses Dragon Tamer to consume Kars’s immortal body. A dragon egg hatches into a horned being resembling Kars; after learning speech, it calls Dawn its master. Dawn names this new entity Kars in memory of the enemy it was created from 41 42.
Appearance
Kars commonly possesses a muscular, nearly proportioned humanoid body, pale-golden skin, wild or flowing golden hair, and striking golden vertical pupils. His appearance changes drastically with his biological transformations 25 39 52.
- Can become a giant peregrine falcon, squirrel, butterfly, hummingbird, owl-eyed bird, and turtle 38 39 61 64.
- Forms wings from his body for flight and pursuit 39 57.
- Produces bone blades from his forearms; Dragon Tamer Kars’s blades are described as indestructible 39 78.
- Dragon Tamer Kars has dragon horns and scattered scales 41 78.
- Pillar Man Kars assumes a half-human, half-horse form to perform Perfect Golden Spin 89.
- After absorbing nuclear radiation inside the scroll, Spinning Kars loses his humanoid form and becomes a green-glowing radiation source 91.
Abilities & Skills
Ultimate Lifeform Physiology
Kars possesses extreme physical power, regenerative capacity, biological control, and environmental adaptation.
- Regenerates from severe wounds almost immediately, including broken spines and damaged internal organs 40 44.
- Can survive in space and adapt to attacks or hostile environments instantaneously 33.
- Rearranges his internal atomic structure; after swallowing a scarlet monster, he forms material harder than diamond 42.
- Can split his body apart, with even separated flesh capable of growing into another Kars 41.
- His lifespan is infinite, rendering lifespan-draining abilities ineffective 40.
- Shatters a plane cockpit with one punch and survives a recreated plane crash without meaningful harm 57.
- Withstands Sheer Heart Attack’s explosion and cracks the supposedly indestructible Stand with repeated kicks 52.
Biological Transformation
Kars can reshape his body into animals, weapons, defensive structures, and specialized organs.
- Generates wings, steel feathers, insulating skin, tentacles, claws, scales, anti-jointed legs, eyes, and venomous snakes 39 41 52.
- Releases swarms of poisonous insects from his body 39 40.
- Uses scent to reconstruct surrounding events and create a three-dimensional map of nearby life 38 78.
- Sends a hummingbird formed from his body to locate Dawn and relay spoken information 61.
- Dragon Tamer Kars’s blood activates Stone Masks, allowing Dawn to transform Tobio and later Iggy 43 100.
Gaia Consciousness
Original Kars describes Gaia Consciousness as his command over all things born from Earth.
- Is unaffected by King Crimson’s Time Erasure 39.
- Copies observed abilities associated with Earth-born beings, including Dio’s time stop 39.
- Learns and uses time stop after witnessing The World; this ability is not copied by the later Dragon Tamer incarnation 39 42.
- Attempts to copy Dawn’s Vaporization ability but fails to understand its essential mechanism 41.
Perfect Golden Spin
Pillar Man Kars learns Spin after initially dismissing it as a human “child’s technique.” He creates bone spheres while running in centaur form, combining the movement of his upper and lower body to produce an endless rotational attack 85 89.
- Fires bone spheres at speeds too fast for ordinary people to perceive 89.
- Recalled projectiles return to his palm after missing 89.
- The attack requires contact; Dawn avoids it through Time Erasure 89.
- His Spin is strong enough to threaten Dawn, Diego Brando, and Jolyne Cujoh simultaneously 89.
Space-Time Vortex
Space-Time Vortex is the Stand awakened by Pillar Man Kars after his mastery of Perfect Golden Spin.
- Appears as a nearly three-meter-tall silver humanoid with spiral patterns 89.
- Uses rotation to shatter space-time 89.
- Can teleport, banish, or imprison targets 89.
- Is stolen alongside Kars’s memories by White Snake while Kars is trapped in two dimensions, then returned to him 90.
