Background / History

Ryomen Sukuna was a human historical figure and powerful sorcerer from a thousand years ago during the golden age of Jujutsu 17. After a coalition of sorcerers challenged and suffered a crushing defeat against him, he earned the name Sukuna, and his remains were preserved as indestructible "Death Wax" cursed objects divided into twenty fingers 17 182.

Centuries later, Yuji Itadori consumes one of his fingers during an attack at a school, allowing Sukuna to take control of Yuji's body 9. Satoru Gojo reveals Sukuna's identity as the King of Curses, and Sukuna frequently attempts to seize permanent control, threatening Lin Ran and other sorcerers 17 33 119. When Lin Ran later orchestrates the collection and consumption of the remaining fingers, Sukuna's complete entity—a two-headed, four-armed form—is fully realized within a controlled boundary 306. Following a final battle against Lin Ran and Yuji, Sukuna is defeated, and his twenty fingers are permanently disintegrated 308.
