Background / History

Lin Ran initially concealed his strength and deliberately kept a low profile, believing that revealing himself before he could stand independently would invite powerful enemies. He intended to let Yuji Itadori, as Sukuna’s vessel, remain the focus of hostile attention, while still resolving to protect Yuji from Sukuna if necessary 4 6.

As a transfer student at Sugisawa Third High School, he became Nobara Kugisaki’s neighbor and later intervened when Sasaki and Iguchi unsealed Sukuna’s Finger. He rescued them, defeated the curse in the Occult Research Club room, removed Sukuna’s fingernail for himself, and left the remaining finger for Yuji 5 8. Sukuna subsequently recognized that Lin Ran had taken something from him and marked him as a future target 17.

A near-fatal clash with a Special Grade cursed spirit exposed the limits of his early Cursed Energy Armor; Satoru Gojo rescued him after he was pinned and incapacitated inside the spirit’s domain 15.
