Background / History

Gojo intervened when Yuji Itadori consumed a Special Grade Cursed Object and became Ryomen Sukuna's vessel. He tested Sukuna directly, evaded its attacks without injury, forced it to relinquish Yuji's body after ten seconds, and put Yuji to sleep to verify whether he could function as a vessel. At Megumi Fushiguro's earnest request, Gojo agreed to find a way to save Yuji despite the jujutsu authorities' death sentence. 10

After tracing a distinctive residue of cursed energy to Lin Ran, Gojo sought him out in Sendai and invited him to Tokyo. He later rescued Lin Ran after his encounter with a Special Grade Cursed Spirit, providing food and bandages while arranging his enrollment at Tokyo Jujutsu High. 11 15 16 19

Gojo introduced Yuji and Lin Ran to Principal Masamichi Yaga, explained Sukuna's history as the King of Curses, and oversaw their entry into the school. He intentionally encourages interaction among his students rather than allowing Megumi to isolate himself. 17 20

When Jogo challenged him, Gojo used the battle as a lesson for Yuji and Lin Ran. He explained Domain mechanics inside Jogo's Coffin Iron Mountain, then overwhelmed it with Infinite Void, captured Jogo alive, and interrogated him about the group targeting Gojo. 66 67 68

Beneath this unserious manner, he is attentive to his students' safety and development. He saves Lin Ran without demanding an explanation, protects Yuji and Lin Ran while demonstrating his Domain, and makes training into a practical lesson rather than simply defeating threats himself. 16 67 69

Gojo believes strength must be tempered by knowledge and responsibility. Though regarded as invincible, he does not indiscriminately eliminate cursed spirits; Lin Ran specifically observes that Gojo's experience and restraint are as valuable as his power. 38
