Background / History

Secret Realm Expedition

Ye Honglian first encountered Wang Xian while traveling alone toward a secret realm that appears once every thousand years. She introduced herself as a cultivator from Sunset City and initially regarded Wang Xian, whom she believed came from an obscure place called Phoenix City, with condescension. 1172 Although the two entered the secret realm together, both made clear that they did not intend to remain companions. 1173

Inside, Ye Honglian confronted a chimei wangliang and later a colossal demon bird. The demon bird gravely wounded her left shoulder and tore through her protective spiritual power. 1174 Yan Hui arrived, destroyed the demon bird, and gave its inner core to Ye Honglian; she remained focused on him even as Wang Xian departed without seeking the reward. 1174

Yan Hui's Fall and Pursuit of Wang Xian

After rescuing the injured Wang Xian from a pit, Ye Honglian searched for Yan Hui and dismissed Wang Xian's suspicions about him. 1184 Determined to become stronger, she began refining the demon bird core and attempted to advance alongside Yan Hui, who was separately absorbing Youli's demon core. 1185 1186

The woman's sword-callused hand and manner nevertheless stirred Ye Honglian's memories. 1399 1400 The Succubus used a formation to expel Ye Honglian from the residence and repeatedly outmaneuvered her through Sunset City. 1400

Across a lake, Ye Honglian's sword strike seemed to cleave the Succubus in two, but the opponent emerged unharmed and trapped Ye Honglian behind an invisible barrier. 1402 Seeking revenge and the rumored Heavenly Book, Ye Honglian later directed Sunset City cultivators toward the Succubus, intending to have them hunt her down. 1404

Yan Clan Wedding

Ye Honglian was prepared to marry Yan Hui, but showed little joy at the prospect. She feared repeating her mother Tu Xiuyun's life of stalled cultivation and domestic confinement, while Wang Xian's arrow through Yan Hui remained fixed in her thoughts. 1481
