The entire chat seemed to freeze for a moment. Ling Chu could almost hear everyone gasp.
Shining Big Toe: "Holy shit, holy shit, holy shit! What the hell is that thing?"
Sunset Strongman: "Oh my god, I'm eating! That scared me to death! My sanity just took a hit!"
Functions Aren't Our Friends: "Is that a monster... or a person? Don't tell me the Ghost Ship has been secretly running human experiments."
Ms. Lots of Cash: "That doesn't look like the Ghost Ship. Where are you now, Ling Chu?"
Ling Chu turned the camera toward the operating table and the pile of experimental records behind her.
"Don't worry, this isn't the Ghost Ship. We're three decks below the Nautilus's main deck. But yes, they're conducting human experiments here."
Ling Chu wasn't worried about Lucas's people being in her livestream. The chances of a player being aboard the Nautilus were vanishingly small. And if one had slipped aboard and happened to see her stream, that was fine too...
Ling Chu took out the Oath of the Wind Whisperer and drew her bow toward the huge tank holding the Snail Man. A brilliant Storm Arrow formed between her fingers—
Because she was about to blow this place up!
Ling Chu released the bowstring. The blue-white Storm Arrow flew from her hand and slammed into the Snail Man's tank with a piercing whistle.
Dense cracks burst outward from the point of impact across the transparent wall. An instant later, the tank shattered. Seawater and shards of glass poured out, quickly flooding the floor.
The Snail Man slid out with the water. It propped up its dripping body, raised its badly deformed face, and looked at Ling Chu.
A faint mental pulse entered Ling Chu's mind once more.
It was thanking her.
