Background

Before his imprisonment, Clumsy Bear's extreme hunger had already forced him to purchase cheap, spoiled food whenever it was available. He once bought 1,000 pounds of stale Wolf Meat from Ling Chu through the Trading Post. 105

Clumsy Bear was imprisoned by Autumn Snow's Holy Army as a “sin slave.” His Gluttonous Giant Bear profession required food to fuel its skills, but its curse gave him an appetite ten times that of an ordinary adult. During his early survival, he scavenged any affordable food he could find, including stale meat and other undesirable provisions. 105 307

An earlier fleet expelled him because he ate too much. He subsequently joined the Qingshan Ship, where rationing and secretly provided extra portions barely sustained him. The Holy Army's destruction of that ship led to his captivity. His prolonged hunger prevented him from accumulating the Satiety needed to use his profession skills and advance beyond Tier 2. 307

Autumn Snow branded the word “sin” on his forehead, while Xia Chunying routinely beat and berated the prisoners. These experiences made the sisters the people he hated most, with Xia Chunying earning even greater resentment than Autumn Snow. 769

Using his final Public Chat message, he contacted Ling Chu from the Holy Army dungeon. She traded him 235 jin of Giant Lizard meat in exchange for intelligence on Autumn Snow's upgraded ship and its pursuit of the Ghost Ship. The food gave him enough Satiety to transform and escape. 277 291

During the Ghost Ship's battle with the Holy Army, he transformed into a nearly three-meter black bear, attacked the enemy vessel from within, targeted healer River Maple Fishing Fire, and created chaos among the Holy Army forces. He was seriously wounded by Autumn Snow but escaped after capturing Xia Chunying as a hostage. 294 296

After the battle, he revealed his identity to Ling Chu and explained that he had intervened to repay her for saving him with food. Ling Chu later recruited him to the Ghost Ship, promising that he would never go hungry again. 301 307

Before being transported to the survival game, Clumsy Bear worked as the captain of a security company's bodyguard team. He had achieved the best performance among his coworkers and received a planned promotion before his arrival in this world. 630

He became team captain after only three months, and his clients said that his imposing build made them feel safe. His employer intended to promote him to supervisor, a position that would have paid twenty thousand yuan per month, but he entered the survival game before the promotion took place. 630

Appearance

In human form, Clumsy Bear is a tanned, burly man over two meters tall, around twenty-eight or twenty-nine years old, with a simple and honest appearance. 301

  • In giant-bear form, he becomes a muscular black bear nearly three meters tall. 294
  • Transformation originally destroyed his clothing; a flexible sharkskin diving suit later solved this issue, though he had gone barefoot after repeatedly bursting shoes. 549
  • Uses legendary-grade Crimson Fire Gloves, whose spikes and heat effect remain effective underwater. 366
  • Developed thick, bark-like calluses on the backs of his hands during Drunken Fist training. 649
  • While exploring Black Reef Island, he used Xia Chunying's appearance as a disguise, causing locals to mistake him for a slender young woman. 772
  • His choice of Xia Chunying's face arose from his hatred of her, although his habitual gestures remained conspicuously unlike hers. 769

Personality

Clumsy Bear is straightforward, honest, and deeply grateful to those who help him. He repaid Ling Chu's food trade by risking his life against the Holy Army, and he immediately entrusted his Big Eater Challenge island prize to her management. 301 490

His enormous appetite strongly shapes his priorities and imagination. An illusion once trapped him with an island made of chocolate waterfalls, roasted-meat grasslands, and strawberry pudding; he did not want to wake up because it was more satisfying than reality. 317

Though often careless or awkward, he is diligent and resilient. He volunteers for dangerous tasks despite injuries, accepts medical treatment when instructed, and endured days of punishing martial-arts training without complaint. 302 649

He is protective of his companions and willing to place himself in danger for them, including intervening to save Serki from Seliuxi and physically holding back the crushing walls of the White Bone Labyrinth. 517 667

Clumsy Bear is trusting and literal-minded to the point of naivety. While disguised on Black Reef Island, he failed to recognize a stranger's flirtatious intentions, became excited at the offer of free Golden Rum, and reflexively punched the man into a wall after being touched. 772

He is also enthusiastic about physical self-improvement. After the Physical Training Room was constructed, he joined the crew's prolonged training competition and continued eating while exercising through the resulting exhaustion. 763 764

His cheerful manner conceals the emotional effects of deprivation and ridicule. He cried uncontrollably after eating his fill aboard the Ghost Ship, and childhood mockery over his real name made him reluctant to introduce himself as Guo Miaomiao. Nevertheless, he accepts his crewmates' nicknames and says they may call him whatever they like. 307 630

Despite his naïveté, he can act pragmatically in combat. Against Autumn Snow, he used ordinary Holy Army members as human shields, exploited the ship's blind spots, and deliberately created a diversion rather than continue a losing direct confrontation. 294 296

He sincerely respects Babu Guanguan despite the master's harsh treatment. When their initial seven-day training period approached its end, he clung to his master's leg and begged for more instruction; later, he worried that Babu Guanguan's apparent absence meant the master considered him too foolish to see again. 650 651

Abilities & Skills

Gluttonous Giant Bear

Clumsy Bear's Tier 2 profession replaces a conventional Mana bar with Satiety. Food fuels his transformations and profession-exclusive skills. 301

  • Transformation cost: Consumes 100 Satiety.
  • Duration: 30 minutes.
  • Effects: Transforms into a giant bear; doubles Strength and Constitution.
  • Limitation: His appetite is ten times that of an ordinary adult due to Body of Gluttony (Curse). 301
  • Reached 31 Strength underwater after permanent food-based boosts raised his base Strength to 13.5, then Inspire Morale added 2 before transformation doubled the total. 355
  • By the time the Physical Training Room was built, his normal Strength had increased to 17.5; he recorded an 875-kilogram punching force without using skills or transforming. 763
  • At his initial inspection, his attributes were 11 Constitution, 12 Strength, 3 Intelligence, and 6 Agility, with a maximum Satiety of 200. 301
  • Can transform his arms and hands into fur-covered bear limbs without visibly transforming his entire body. He used this to dig Flame Conchs from the seabed, tolerating their defensive flames with his thick skin. 343
  • Gains profession experience by consuming Satiety through skill use. During punching practice, he repeatedly activated and deactivated Glutton's Fur to gain experience alongside his physical training. 307 761
  • His strength also serves noncombat purposes: in giant-bear form, he can carry over a thousand jin of lumber at a time. 472

Provoke

A roaring challenge that forces enemies within five meters to attack him. 301

  • Used as a frontline control skill.
  • Effective only within a short radius.
  • Used it from atop the Moss Giant's head to redirect the giant's attack toward himself. 682
  • Also described as Taunt during the Moss Giant battle. He combined it with repeated body charges to occupy the giant's arms while Ling Chu was threatened by its vines. 676

Glutton's Fur

A Tier 4 defensive skill that instantly grows hard bristles across vital areas. 583

  • Greatly raises his defense.
  • Allowed him to endure Babu Guanguan's attacks without serious injury despite being heavily battered. 643
  • Used continuously during Drunken Fist training to avoid broken ribs. 649
  • Activated it while trapped between crushing bone walls, causing his fur to expand and substantially improving his ability to resist the pressure. 667

Glutton's Roar

A Tier 4 intimidation skill that emits a roar empowered by gluttony. 583

  • Affects enemies within ten meters.
  • Greatly reduces enemy defense for a short period.
  • Has a high chance to inflict fear and cause enemies to flee. 583
  • Scattered an entire swarm of Level 3 Six-Legged Horseshoe Crabs from the reefs. 603
  • Causes throat discomfort after use. 603

Gluttonous Devouring

A Tier 5 Gluttonous Giant Bear skill that allows Clumsy Bear to consume a single incoming non-physical attack while in giant-bear form. 762

  • Can devour flames, toxic mist, magical attacks, energy blasts, and similar non-physical attacks, converting the consumed attack into Satiety. 762
  • After a successful devouring, greatly increases his resistance to that specific type of attack for a short time. 762
  • Cannot devour physical attacks.
  • Stronger attacks have a greater chance of causing the devouring attempt to fail.
  • Cannot be used when his Satiety is already at maximum. 762
  • Addresses a major defensive weakness: before acquiring it, unusual spells, poison, and flames were more troublesome to him than close-quarters physical combat. 762

Inspire Morale

A Pirate profession skill that temporarily strengthens Clumsy Bear. 301

  • Grants +2 Strength and +1 Constitution.
  • Costs 5 Mana.
  • Lasts three minutes with a 30-minute cooldown.
  • Used while fighting an armored King Cobra. 456

Two-handed Hammer Buff

A weapon bonus for two-handed hammers. 301

  • Increases damage by 10% while wielding a two-handed hammer.
  • Huang Xiaowen randomly copied this skill during action preparations, receiving an 8% damage bonus through her 80%-strength mimicry. The result was of little practical use because she did not wield a hammer. 794

Drunken Fist

Clumsy Bear became Babu Guanguan's disciple and began learning the Drunken Fist Eighteen Forms. 648 649

  • Mastered the first form, Push Wine, Swap Cups, after six days of relentless practice. 649
  • The technique enabled him to transfer force through a boulder and reduce half of it to powder. 649
  • His training involved repeated beatings and stone-breaking practice to learn proper force application. 649
  • His skill panel records the first form at Beginner proficiency, capable of 30% of Babu Guanguan's original technique's power. While drunk, its power increases by 20%. 649
  • The style balances hardness and softness and combines offense with defense, using fierce punches and light, agile movements. His instruction also included basic breathing techniques. 649

Bumper Ball Master

A special title Clumsy Bear obtained from the Whispering Tower. 667

  • When activated, doubles his Speed, Defense, and Impact Power.
  • He combined the title with Glutton's Fur and his giant-bear form to curl into a ball and repeatedly ram through the White Bone Labyrinth's closing walls. 667
  • Its speed boost allowed him to narrowly evade the Moss Giant's attacks while drawing its attention. 676
  • Breaking through bone walls remains physically costly. After forcing his way through only a few walls, he was already struggling, and the walls' skeletal hands had torn out patches of his fur. 668

Combat Limitations

  • His large size and low Agility make him vulnerable to fast opponents. You Jiali could exploit the gaps in his reactions during sparring, even while deliberately limiting his own speed. 538
  • His single-digit Agility remained a weakness when the Physical Training Room opened, prompting Ling Chu to order dedicated Agility training. 763
  • His physical toughness does not protect him fully from mental attacks. A Drowned impersonating Squid Ball attacked him and left lingering mental trauma that required rest and gradual recovery. 559 560
  • As a human without mermaid hearing organs, he is unaffected by the Soul-Suppressing Conch's mermaid-specific soundwaves. 517

Equipment

  • Crimson Fire Gloves — Legendary-grade metal gloves lined with animal hide and fitted with knuckle spikes. Their burning effect can char targets even underwater. 366
  • Sharkskin diving suit — Highly elastic suit made by Aunt Martha; expands to fit his transformed form without tearing. 549
  • Boots — Acquired to prevent going barefoot after transformation destroyed multiple pairs of shoes. 549
  • Two-handed hammer — Receives a 10% damage bonus when used. 301
  • Blow to Enlarge Shield — Temporarily passed to him by Huang Xiaowen when an armored King Cobra prepared to launch Flying Scale Spines. 456
  • Training sandbag — Temporarily sewn by Martha and filled with sand and gravel. He used it for punching and defensive-skill practice before accidentally destroying it in giant-bear form. 761 762

Relationships

  • Ling Chu — Captain and benefactor. Her 235-jin meat trade enabled his escape from the Holy Army; he later joined her crew and trusts her with major rewards. 277 301 307 490 He openly admires her personal charisma and recognizes her overwhelming combat strength. 410 591
  • Babu Guanguan — Master. Initially fought Clumsy Bear after he damaged Babu Guanguan's plants, then accepted him as a disciple and taught him Drunken Fist in exchange for meals. 641 648 649 Clumsy Bear regards him sincerely as his teacher and sought to extend their initially limited training period. 650 651
  • Lingering Wind and Fading Moon — Crew medic who treated his Holy Army injuries, Drowned-induced mental trauma, and martial-arts training bruises. 302 560 649
  • Huang Xiaowen — Crewmate who saved him from Babu Guanguan's attack using Let's Swap and often fights alongside him. 455 641 She considered having him impersonate Karl Claude but rejected the plan because he had never met Claude and could not convincingly reproduce his behavior. She later coordinated with him while he restrained Grande. 794 821 823
  • You Jiali — Crewmate and combat partner; joined him in gathering ingredients and assisted against Babu Guanguan. 354 641 His cooking helps sustain Clumsy Bear's enormous appetite, including large steamed buns prepared in advance for a prolonged meeting. 307 801
  • Squid Ball — Crewmate who worries over his safety and teases him about his powerful roar. 603 642
  • Serki — Mermaid ally whom Clumsy Bear rescued from Seliuxi's assault, injuring Seliuxi with his Crimson Fire Gloves. 517
  • Zhen Qingshan — Former captain of the Qingshan Ship. After their reunion, Zhen Qingshan asked Clumsy Bear to address him as an equal rather than as captain. 659
  • Xia Chunying — Former Holy Army member whom Clumsy Bear seized as a hostage during his escape and delivered to Ling Chu. Her appearance was later used as Clumsy Bear's disguise on Black Reef Island. 296 301 772 Her abuse of the Holy Army's prisoners made her one of the people he hated most. 769
  • Autumn Snow — Former captor and enemy; wounded him severely during his escape attack on the Holy Army fleet. 294 296 She branded “sin” on his forehead during his enslavement. 769
  • National Server Little Luban — Ally whom Clumsy Bear rescued from doll guards in Bright City by crushing one guard's head and knocking the others away. 418
  • Grande — Combat opponent whom Clumsy Bear intercepted while Grande was charging toward Ling Chu. He grappled with Grande and later helped keep him pinned in adhesive slime. 821 823

Story Role / Major Arcs

Holy Army Escape

Clumsy Bear contacts Ling Chu from imprisonment, trades intelligence for life-saving meat, and uses the restored Satiety to transform and escape. He disrupts the Holy Army assault on the Ghost Ship and delivers Xia Chunying to Ling Chu's side. 277 291 294 301

During the fighting, he uses ordinary Holy Army crewmates as shields against Autumn Snow's Holy Light blades, then moves through the ship's cabins and blind spots to attack vulnerable targets. When direct combat proves unfavorable, he throws a broken mast into a crowded section of deck to create a diversion and leaps to another vessel, where he captures Xia Chunying. 294 296

Joining the Ghost Ship

After explaining his profession and hunger curse, Clumsy Bear is invited into the Ghost Ship crew. He accepts immediately when Ling Chu promises regular meals, though a crew-transfer cooldown initially requires him to serve in a temporary position. 307 308

His first satisfying meal aboard the ship consists of You Jiali's steamed buns and Spicy Hotpot. After finishing the food without wasting the remaining broth, he breaks down crying and recounts the hunger and rejection he endured before joining them. The crew welcomes him as its sixth member. 307

Underwater Expeditions

He becomes a regular member of Ling Chu's exploration teams, catches Tiger Crabs, battles the Rank 5 Spotted Mantis Shrimp King in giant-bear form, and discovers an underwater volcano surrounded by Flame Conchs. 354 355 366

After receiving the Crimson Fire Gloves from Ling Chu, he tests their underwater burning effect by punching a small fish and charring it. He subsequently encounters a Tier 5 Deep Sea Beltfish whose heat resistance and immunity to most fire damage counter the gloves' main effect. 366 367

Bright City Conflict and Reconstruction

Clumsy Bear rescues National Server Little Luban from doll guards, destroying the guards through direct physical attacks in giant-bear form. Later, he helps free You Jiali and Autumn Snow and stands at the front of the team resisting Graf Adrian. 418 431

Adrian's hooked arm deeply wounds his shoulder, weakening his punches and slowing his movements. Ling Chu intercepts a potentially fatal follow-up attack and tells him to withdraw for treatment; healing subsequently begins to relieve the wound. 431 432

During the citizens' reconstruction work, he uses his giant-bear form to transport more than a thousand jin of lumber per load, working with an efficiency comparable to a horse-drawn cart. 472

Big Eater Challenge

Clumsy Bear enters the Big Eater Challenge and reaches the final against a Mixed-blood Sea Monster. He reveals his black-bear form, transforms into the Gluttonous Giant Bear to increase his capacity, and wins after his opponent collapses and is forced to forfeit. His reward is an island, which he gives to Ling Chu for the Ghost Ship. 485 488 489 490

Mermaid Civil Conflict

During the conflict involving Serki and Seliuxi, Clumsy Bear intervenes to rescue Serki. His flaming Crimson Fire Gloves injure Seliuxi, while the Soul-Suppressing Conch's mermaid-specific soundwaves prove ineffective against him because he lacks mermaid hearing organs. 517

Ghost Mist Calamity

A Drowned impersonates Squid Ball and attacks Clumsy Bear, choking him before Ling Chu intervenes. Bluish-gray handprints remain around his neck after the attack. 559

Lingering Wind and Fading Moon finds that his principal injury is mental trauma rather than serious physical damage. She administers a calming sleep aid and has skeleton crew members take him to his cabin to rest, as the condition can only recover gradually. Ling Chu warns the remaining crew not to leave their rooms in response to unfamiliar sounds. 560

Whispering Lighthouse Challenges

After advancing to Tier 4, Clumsy Bear helps clear the Whispering Lighthouses. He discovers that disarming silhouettes can disperse them, uses his Crimson Fire Gloves to seize weapons safely, and later demonstrates Glutton's Roar by routing a crab swarm. 580 583 603

Against the Black Mist Ball, his large size and slow movement make him a primary target, and he is swallowed along with Titch. 584

During the Ghost Doll's hide-and-seek challenge, he moves a large teddy bear to a high shelf and takes its place in giant-bear form. The Ghost Doll initially overlooks him but discovers the real toy on the shelf and realizes there are two teddy bears. After being caught, Clumsy Bear uses the Crew Channel to help report its movements. 609 610

Babu Guanguan's Disciple

A pollen-induced sneeze damages Babu Guanguan's plants and sparks a confrontation in which Clumsy Bear is decisively outmatched. He later compensates Babu Guanguan by restoring the island, earns his respect, and becomes his disciple to study Drunken Fist. 640 641 646 648 649

After learning the first form, he remains dissatisfied with how little of the eighteen-form style he has acquired and begs to continue beyond the agreed seven days. Ling Chu proposes that Babu Guanguan move to Hope Island, offering improved living conditions and continued access to Ghost Ship meals. Clumsy Bear later accompanies her to bid his master farewell and conduct a final trade. 650 651

White Bone Labyrinth

Within the White Bone Labyrinth, Clumsy Bear transforms into his giant-bear form to hold apart crushing bone walls. He reinforces himself with Glutton's Fur and Bumper Ball Master, then breaks through the walls by repeatedly ramming them in a curled ball. He later uses his Crimson Fire Gloves to burn away attacking vines and Provoke to draw the Moss Giant's attack. 667 673 682

Although he insists that he is fine after escaping the crushing passage, the walls' skeletal claws have torn out some of his fur. Ling Chu recognizes that repeated brute-force breakthroughs would exhaust or injure him long before they could cross the entire self-repairing labyrinth. 668

During the Moss Giant battle, he combines his title's speed boost with repeated charges and forced aggression to keep the giant's arms occupied. Later, he climbs onto its skull and provokes it into striking at its own head, with Huang Xiaowen timing her exchange skill to the incoming blow. 676 682

Physical Training Room

Clumsy Bear's advancement to Tier 5 unlocks the Ghost Ship's Physical Training Room. After accidentally destroying a deck-side sandbag during training, he gains a proper facility with force-measuring pillars, treadmills, resistance racks, and other equipment intended to improve living crew members' base attributes. Ling Chu specifically orders him to train his weak Agility. 762 763

Black Reef Island Exploration

While disguised with Xia Chunying's face on Black Reef Island, Clumsy Bear is approached by a gold-chain-wearing local who mistakes him for a woman and offers him free rum. When the man touches him, Clumsy Bear reflexively punches him into a wall; Ling Chu then coerces the terrified man into guiding the group toward the Inner City. 772

During later action preparations, he supplies Huang Xiaowen with a strand of hair for skill mimicry, but the randomly selected Two-handed Hammer Buff does not suit her weapons. Huang Xiaowen also rejects using him as Karl Claude's impersonator, judging that changing his face and voice would not compensate for his unfamiliarity with Claude's mannerisms and speech. 794

While waiting for Lucas to receive the group, the steak provided is insufficient for his appetite. He takes advantage of Raine's restroom absence to eat the large steamed buns You Jiali had packed for him. 801

Battle Against Grande

After defeating a senior crewman equipped with Copper Gauntlets, Clumsy Bear sees Grande charging toward Ling Chu and immediately intercepts him. The two collide and grapple at close range, each attempting to overpower the other while trading insults about their size. Huang Xiaowen instructs Clumsy Bear to hold Grande in place. 821

When adhesive slime traps Grande against the deck, Clumsy Bear prevents him from lifting himself free by striking him back down with a bear paw. He then sits on Grande's legs, keeping him pinned and silencing his attempted protest. 823
