Lucas did not take the people in front of him seriously.

Lucas looked over Ling Chu and the other two. Since they had destroyed a batch of his most valuable test subjects, he might as well keep them to fill the vacancies. The red-eyed man in particular carried an unusual scent in his blood. Using him for live experiments might yield an unexpected discovery.
"Take them alive."
At Lucas's command, the pirates who had been itching for a fight tightened their grips on their weapons and swiftly closed in.
Archers had taken the high ground near the deckhouse and masts. Hundreds of arrowheads glinted coldly in the night, while the melee fighters on deck slowly tightened the ring around their targets.
Lucas did not rush to deal with D-03 again.
The Snail-Shell Parasite's real threats were its defenses, mental attacks, and slime-dependent Flash Movement. Its direct killing power was not particularly impressive. As long as the ordinary crew avoided that disgusting slime, few of them would die anytime soon.
By comparison, the remaining researchers were the resources that truly needed protecting.
The woman who had just swapped two people's positions out of thin air could keep using her ability from outside the crowd. D-03 would not even need to break through the wall of pirates; sooner or later, she would deliver the researchers to its mouth one by one.
That woman had to go.
Lucas's gaze snapped to Huang Xiaowen. The next instant, a puddle at his feet exploded.
One moment, Huang Xiaowen saw Lucas staring at her; the next, he vanished. Alarm bells rang in her head. Her Ice Crystal Dagger had only just slid from her sleeve into her palm when a black-clad
