Awakening and Nuoding Academy

Su Yuntao first met Mu Rong Chen while undergoing martial soul testing at Nuoding City’s Spirit Hall Branch. Proud of his rank-three innate soul power and recruitment offer, he initially looked down on Chen. That confidence collapsed when Chen demonstrated rank-six innate soul power and an Ice Spirit Snake whose bloodline pressure made Su Yuntao’s Lone Wolf tremble 5.

Although he accepted Spirit Hall’s offer, Su Yuntao qualified only as a reserve: Spirit Hall Academy required at least innate rank five, and he would have to attend an ordinary academy and pass an assessment before formally joining. He instead became Chen’s roommate in Nuoding Academy’s Dorm Seven and agreed to follow him 6.

Chen’s encouragement turned this practical arrangement into a lasting commitment. After hearing that poor talent did not make his martial soul worthless, Su Yuntao vowed to follow Chen for life rather than spend his future idling in Spirit Hall. Chen subsequently supplied food, medicinal treatments, and cultivation resources 11 13 16.

Catching Up with His Companions

Su Yuntao’s slower cultivation threatened to separate him from Chen and Xiao Lin when they prepared to enter an intermediate academy. Retaliation and the Loss of Lone Wolf Village

Su Yuntao supported Chen during the confrontation with Yu Xiaogang and shared in the valuables taken afterward. Chen gave him his old storage ring, allowing Su Yuntao to obtain a soul tool of his own 44 45.

When Liu Erlong later attacked Chen, Su Yuntao attempted to intervene with Lone Wolf possession. Flender stopped him with a single kick, sending him into Xiao Lin and leaving both unconscious. The three companions subsequently withdrew from the academy and returned toward Nuoding City 50 53.

There, Su Yuntao learned that Lone Wolf Village had been exterminated, along with Holy Soul Village and Xiao Changhe’s household. He lost his entire family and stayed beside the unconscious Xiao Lin while Chen investigated. When Chen returned gravely injured and warned that Spirit Hall was pursuing them, Su Yuntao helped him escape 53 55 56.

Outside Nuoding City, Su Yuntao vowed to fight the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Neither he nor Xiao Lin blamed Chen for the disaster; both instead regretted leaving Yu Xiaogang alive 56.

Military Service and Sunset Town

Su Yuntao enlisted with Chen and Xiao Lin at a Heaven Dou Empire border camp. During his first documented battle against Star Luo forces, he fought with wolf claws despite accumulating wounds. Five years of warfare, cultivation support, and improved meditation eventually brought him to the rank-twenty threshold 56 59 60 66.

After faking their deaths to leave the battlefield, Su Yuntao, Xiao Lin, Kachino, and Chen established a temporary base in Sunset Town. Su Yuntao remained there to cultivate and gather information while Chen searched Sunset Forest for the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well 75.

He and Xiao Lin later shared their losses with Kachino, who pledged to treat their enemies as his own. Despite his vow against the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan, Su Yuntao admitted that only Chen knew who was truly responsible for the massacres 82 83.

When Chen returned, he brought pills that transformed his companions’ martial souls. Su Yuntao’s became the Gale Shadow Wolf, and he subsequently obtained his third ring by killing a Gale Eagle 89 90 91.

Fengyun Academy

On Chen’s instructions, Su Yuntao helped Xiao Lin and Kachino locate Shrek Academy and purchase the land opposite it. Returning to Suotuo City stirred memories of his earlier humiliation, but the site became the foundation of Fengyun Academy 93 94.

He openly confronted Shrek’s staff, including Li Yusong and Flender. Zhao Wuji’s gravitational pressure nevertheless forced him and Xiao Lin to the ground, demonstrating that their improvements had not erased the gap between them and stronger opponents 98 100.

Chen later appointed Su Yuntao and Xiao Lin as teaching assistants. They led students on weighted runs around Shrek Academy, and Su Yuntao remained among the staff assigned responsibilities when Chen delegated the academy’s management 105 116 121.

Su Yuntao’s initial pride quickly gave way to insecurity about his limited talent. He repeatedly worried that he was holding his companions back, but responded to encouragement with determined cultivation rather than resignation. During training, he continued getting up after painful defeats and learned to fight more intelligently 5 13 22 27 37.

Loyalty is his defining quality in Chen’s eyes. Even when frightened, he stood beside Chen against Xiao Lin, later tried to rescue him from Liu Erlong, and refused to blame him after losing his family. Military experience made him more composed without removing his humility, though confrontations with Shrek’s staff revealed a sharp tongue and fierce temper 6 11 35 50 56 70 98.
