Jiang Shaoxu comes from an influential military family. During the National Prefecture journey, even Zhao Manyan cannot establish her exact origins, although he considers her backing exceptional. Her father is later identified as Jiang Tianyuan, a high-ranking military official; the Purple Gold Army is mobilized to rescue her when she becomes trapped in the Qinling Mountains 189 581 591 821.

Her brother, Jiang Shaojun, is central to her interest in Totems.
