Big Mom possessed extraordinary strength from childhood, with accounts describing her as capable of tearing apart Giants at a young age. Her childhood experiences also left her with a particular fondness for Giants, but the Giants considered her their sworn enemy because she sought to destroy Elbaf 323 695.

She and Kaido were once members of the Rocks Pirates. During that period, she took care of him; the claim that she gave him his Devil Fruit is presented as a rumor 697.

Big Mom later established Totto Land and the enormous Charlotte Family. She sought to create a country where every race could live together, expanding her influence through her children’s marriages and pursuing artificial Giantification when she could not secure the Giants’ cooperation 323 324.

Kaido arrives to disrupt the prospective alliance, triggering a destructive battle. Wood intervenes against both Emperors, while Big Mom exploits an opening to strike Kaido with Maelstrom Cannon. The aftermath leaves Totto Land with more than half its territory effectively lost, and her crew declares war on the Beast Pirates 329 330 332 334.

Marineford Alliance

Big Mom and Kaido conceal their cooperation by staging genuine battles between their crews before sailing to Marineford. Their plan is to strike the exhausted Navy and Whitebeard Pirates, with Big Mom claiming Wood among the spoils 481.

Their combined attack destroys Marineford, but the ensuing conflict produces no decisive victory. Big Mom loses Cracker and Smoothie, leaving Katakuri as the surviving member of the three Sweet Commanders 482 484.

Wedding Tea Party and Totto Land’s Collapse

Big Mom hosts Pudding and Sanji’s wedding to announce her alliance with the Vinsmoke Family. She recovers Caesar’s Giantification data and passes it to Judge, intending to use Germa’s science to surpass Kaido 668 669 671.
