Background / History
Wood originated from Maple Leaf Island, where his parents were killed during a pirate invasion. After arriving in the world, he was physically weaker than even the island’s young children and began as an ordinary lumberjack. His early training focused on overcoming that weakness through relentless physical conditioning and sword practice. 3 717
He saved Aine from pirates and was subsequently taken in by Aine and her mother, Stia. Wood regarded their safety as a reason to grow stronger; when pirates later tried to abduct them, he killed their captain and drove the crew away. 3
After joining the Marines, Wood trained at the Naval Academy, served at Impel Down, and fought dangerous prisoners and government agents. His involvement in Shiki’s escape led to him releasing prisoners from Impel Down’s first and second levels, after which he was expelled from the Navy and publicly branded a pirate. 92 678
Despite his public status as a Navy Traitor, Wood operated as Fleet Admiral Sengoku’s mole. His activities included infiltrating the pirate world, working with Corazon against the Donquixote Family, and concealing his Marine connections behind increasingly notorious acts. 206 703
Wood later established the Wood Weapon Company on Dark Island, using advanced weapons derived from Pluton-related research. Its arms trade expanded across kingdoms, pirates, the Navy, and the World Government, making Wood an underworld power whose influence could reshape global warfare. 308 310
The World Government eventually severed ties with Wood and classified both him and his company as pirates. Following the collapse of the Big Mom Pirates, Wood was recognized as a Yonko with a bounty of 6.6 billion Berries. 680
Appearance
Wood was initially a thin young man, but harsh training transformed him into a tall, muscular fighter with a heavily scarred body. 3 535
- Approximately 1.9 meters tall after his first year of training. 3
- Healthy wheat-colored skin and streamlined musculature. 3
- Numerous scars across his upper body, including old near-fatal wounds near his abdomen and heart. 535
- His Winter Knight form encases him in blue armor; at full transformation, he grows nearly four meters tall and develops dragon wings, a dragon tail, claws, and blue dragon-like scales. 451
Personality
Wood is cautious, strategic, and patient. Early in his life, he chose to train in secret rather than act recklessly before he was ready to survive the Grand Line. 3
He is protective of people and places he considers his own, repeatedly supporting Fish-Man Island, Amazon Lily, Maple Leaf Island, and allies such as Aine. He is also willing to confront the Navy or World Government when they threaten those under his protection. 200 607 702
Wood is pragmatic about power and business. He founded an arms company for profit and influence, but much of its revenue also supports the development of desolate islands and shelters orphans and disabled people rescued by his fleets. 310 586
He dislikes being forced into titles or political roles, rejecting the Four Emperor label before later accepting the reality of his Yonko status. 570 680

A living Teigu armor selected after Wood’s Akame ga Kill simulation. It provides powerful ice-based combat abilities and adapts to its wearer. 458 553
