Background / History
Tang Hao was a prodigy of Clear Sky Sect who grew up under the reputation of his grandfather, Tang Chen. He became a Titled Douluo at age forty-four and took great pride in two accomplishments: killing Spirit Hall Pope Qian Xun Ji and obtaining a 100,000-year spirit ring. 149
Before becoming a Titled Douluo, he allegedly remained at level 89 rather than obtain an ordinary spirit ring. Shui Lingfeng concluded that he had calculated around Ah Yin's eventual sacrifice to secure her 100,000-year ring. Ah Yin herself later questioned why he had taken her to Spirit City while she was pregnant and vulnerable, and why her revived seed had been hidden in a sunless cave. 7 43
Following Ah Yin's sacrifice and Qian Xun Ji's death, Spirit Hall blamed Tang Hao for the former Pope's killing. Clear Sky Sect was nearly destroyed in the ensuing conflict, expelled Tang Hao, withdrew from the world, and disbanded its four affiliated single-attribute clans. 43
Tang Hao also killed the couple later known as the “Immortal Couple.” When Tang Yuehua suggested that Ye Liangchen might be their son, Tang Hao recognized that Ye Liangchen had a personal reason to target him and feared for Clear Sky Sect's future. 149 224
Appearance
Tang Hao typically concealed himself in a tattered black robe and neglected his appearance. He was repeatedly described as carrying the stench of sweat and alcohol from rarely bathing. 149 166
- Black-robed and unkempt while hiding near Heaven Dou Royal Academy. 149
- Hair like a bird's nest, a weed-like beard, sallow face, and dull eyes after his crippling. 224
- Lost his right arm and left leg to Ye Liangchen's sniper attack; afterward relied on a crutch. 219 224
Personality
Tang Hao was intensely proud of the Clear Sky Hammer and his own past achievements. He believed that once his hammer was drawn, few could oppose him, and initially considered the title “Clear Sky Douluo” a source of lifelong prestige. 149
His actions were primarily driven by revenge against Spirit Hall and by the desire to make Tang San strong enough to carry that revenge forward. After Clear Sky Sect's downfall, however, he became more cautious: he sought allies, attempted to rebuild a power base for Tang San, and avoided direct recklessness. 149
Despite his harshness, Tang Hao was deeply protective of Tang San. He personally intervened in his son's cultivation, rejected dangerous spirit-ring choices, and was willing to consider suicide as atonement when Clear Sky Sect demanded penance from them. 167 179 225

Story Role / Major Arcs
Rebuilding Tang San's Support
Tang Hao secretly watched over Tang San at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, fearing Xiao Wu's soul beast identity could be exposed. He later met Tang Yuehua and Titan, intending to unite the Four Great Single Attribute Sects and establish a force for Tang San. Yang Wudi and Niu Gao rejected him because Clear Sky Sect had abandoned their clans. 149
Hammer Cultivation
After Ye Cailan deceived him into believing Tang San's Blue Silver Emperor bloodline was nearly exhausted, Tang Hao blamed Yu Xiaogang's teachings and ordered Tang San to focus on the Clear Sky Hammer. He trained Tang San in hammer arts, acquired spirit bones to strengthen his body, and helped him add four spirit rings over 8,000 years old to the hammer. 166 167 178 179
Spirit City Defeat
Tang Hao dramatically intervened at Papal Hall Plaza to protect Tang San, only to be targeted by Ye Liangchen's prepared sniper rifle. Two shots severed his right arm and left leg, stripped him of two inherited spirit bones, and reduced his soul power by twenty levels. 219
Return to Clear Sky Sect
After his crippling, Tang Hao took Tang San to meet Tang Yuehua and sought the sect's protection. Clear Sky Sect members blamed him for the sect's losses and the inherited spirit bones; he and Tang San were forced to kneel and kowtow for three days and nights. Tang Hao considered taking his own life to atone. 223 224 225
Death
Ye Liangchen later told Tang San that Tang Hao had committed suicide and that he had taken Tang Hao's spirit bones as payment. 423
