Night deepened, but the Konoha Anbu Headquarters remained brightly lit.

Anbu Captain Hawk, Shikaku Nara, and Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi were in a small operating room. On the operating table in the middle lay a pale, unconscious man, barely breathing.

The man was a serious criminal who was supposed to be handed over to the Feudal Lord of the Land of Fire. A few days earlier, Shikaku Nara had put him to use as an experimental subject for Anbu.

And the results of the experiment...

Shikaku Nara, Hiruzen Sarutobi, and Hawk stared at the man, their expressions grim.

Just then, Namikaze Minato pushed open the door and entered.

"You called me over in such a hurry. Did you find something? Third Hokage, Shikaku, Hawk?" Namikaze Minato asked with a smile as he looked at the three people in the operating room.

Anbu Captain Hawk glanced at Shikaku Nara to his left and said, "Shikaku, you tell him."

Frowning, Shikaku Nara said gravely, "Fourth Hokage, thanks to Anbu, we've found the 'cause' of the patients' condition."

"What is it?" Namikaze Minato asked tensely.

"It's related to Chakra!" Shikaku Nara replied.

At first, Konoha Hospital suspected the patients had contracted some unknown disease, but tests found no pathogens in their bodies. Then they suspected poisoning, but the results showed no signs of poison in any of them!

It wasn't until Anbu discovered that all the patients had attended the Ninja Academy that Shikaku Nara got a clue.

After that, Shikaku Nara brought in this serious criminal and spent several days working out how to Extract Chakra. In the end...

"They were left unconscious and barely breathing because someone forcibly drained all the Chakra from their bodies." Shikaku Nara sighed, reproach in his voice. "I should have thought of that sooner."
