Time passed, and in the blink of an eye, five days had gone by.

For the past five days, Hanfu had spent his mornings accompanying Mei Terumi as she wandered around Konoha, supposedly to help investigate the Three-Tails' disappearance. In the process, he'd shamelessly tried to get closer to her.

In the afternoons, he'd watched Mei Terumi and Third Hokage Hiruzen Sarutobi argue fiercely over compensation for the Fourth Mizukage's death, each refusing to give an inch.

In the evenings, he'd stayed home to educate Karin. Naruto and Hinata occasionally dropped by, and Hanfu didn't mind. One sheep was just as easy to herd as three, so he educated them all together.

After getting Namikaze Minato's approval, Shisui had been moving around the village disguised as Hanfu's Shadow Clone. But he hadn't been idle, either. He and the White Zetsu Clone Amu had been taking shifts around the clock to keep an eye on Danzo!

Amu had thought he'd resist, maybe even throw a fit. But the longer he kept watch, the more he realized he seemed to have slipped back into a familiar comfort zone. He didn't feel the slightest discomfort. Every now and then, he even had the frightening urge to shove Shisui aside and monopolize all twenty-four hours of surveillance!

Fortunately, Amu was a clone with an iron will!

The Anbu had also made a major breakthrough!

Five days earlier, Anbu Captain Hawk had successfully obtained from the Ninja Academy a list of every student who had failed to graduate over the years. At first, when he saw how many names were on it, Hawk had despaired. In the early years, only dozens failed to graduate each year, but now there were hundreds, even thousands. Over fifty years, the number had accumulated to tens of thousands!
