As the sky gradually darkened, the snow stopped, leaving Konoha blanketed in white. Naruto returned home, beaming, with his hands full of bags.
The kadomatsu outside had been buried in snow. Naruto kicked the snow away with his foot, then banged on the door with his head.
Thump, thump, thump!
"I'm home!" Naruto shouted.
A moment later, Kushina came to open the door, hands on her hips. She snapped, "Naruto, it's New Year's Eve! I told you to come home early before you left. Were you even listening?! And whose stuff is all that you're carrying?"
Naruto had thick skin. He grinned and said, "It's from Hanfu-sensei. It's called Pinru's Wardrobe!"
"Pinru's... Wardrobe?"
What was that?
Looking utterly baffled, Kushina let Naruto inside, then took charge of all the bags in his hands and eagerly began unpacking them one by one.
Hearing the commotion, Namikaze Minato came out of the kitchen too. He smiled and asked, "Did Hanfu-sensei buy Naruto some presents?"
"It's Pinru's Wardrobe!"
Naruto shouted excitedly, "Hanfu-sensei said that as long as I have Pinru's Wardrobe, I can..."
"You can what?" Kushina cut him off, her expression darkening. On the sofa beside her lay one garish outfit after another.
Naruto immediately grew sheepish. "N-nothing."
"What's going on?" Namikaze Minato asked, puzzled. He glanced at the clothes on the sofa, then asked thoughtfully, "Kushina, were the clothes Hanfu bought Naruto very expensive?"
Kushina didn't answer. Instead, she fixed Naruto with a piercing stare. The longer she looked, the more his hair stood on end. He instinctively lowered his head and pressed his feet together, his hands stiffly at his sides. His whole body seemed to spell out one big word: coward!
"Naruto, have you... at school..." Kushina narrowed her eyes and asked, every word deliberate, "fallen for someone?"
