Background / History

Naruto was born to Fourth Hokage Namikaze Minato and Kushina during a heavily guarded delivery outside Konoha. Obito Uchiha infiltrated the cabin, murdered Biwako Sarutobi and a female Anbu, and seized Naruto as a hostage to threaten Minato. Minato escaped the Explosive Tags placed on Naruto's swaddling clothes by teleporting him to safety. 394 395

After the Nine-Tails was released from Kushina, Minato divided it into Yin and Yang halves. Kushina received the Yin half, while the Yang half was sealed into Naruto. Minato believed that letting Naruto and the Nine-Tails grow together from infancy would reduce their mutual hatred and allow Naruto to eventually wield its power. 402 405

Naruto grew up openly known as Minato's son rather than being hidden from the village.
