Rematch with Broly

Destructo Disc!

The move Broly had used was the Destructo Disc, which Turles had recreated from one of Krillin's techniques. Turles probably never imagined that the move he'd taught Broly would one day be used against him. Talk about a boomerang coming back around.

The rapidly spinning Destructo Disc had unparalleled cutting power. Even Frieza had been sliced in half by it during his battle with Son Goku on Namek.

Though Turles had lost all reason, the instinct of a beast still warned him of the threat posed by that little disc of light.

Turles stamped his feet heavily against the ground. The earth split open, forming a massive chasm, while his enormous body shot into the sky, narrowly dodging Broly's Destructo Disc.

After landing, Turles roared at the sky and pounded his chest with both fists. Then, fixing Broly with his red eyes, he slowly opened his mouth. A terrifying energy began to gather inside.

Sensing the fluctuations of that energy blast, Broly didn't dare let his guard down. He used his physical advantage to keep appearing and disappearing around Turles.

Great Ape Transformation gave Saiyans a tenfold boost, but their enormous size also made them easy targets. Turles was caught in precisely that predicament.

Broly tried repeatedly to get near Turles's tail, but Turles guarded it far more carefully than expected. Even with his massive body, his tail remained nimble, constantly dodging Broly's attacks.

After another failed attempt, Broly's movements faltered for an instant. Turles, with his beastlike instincts, seized the opening. His thick tail swept out with terrifying force and struck Broly, sending him flying.

Broly staggered backward, unable to control his body. He crashed through building after building, leaving human-shaped holes in his wake.

After passing through more than a dozen buildings, Broly finally came to a stop. Even he had a trickle of blood running from the corner of his mouth.

Seeing that he'd struck the annoying "fly," Turles roared again. Beams shot from his mouth, sweeping across everything around him until the area was reduced to ruins!

"Turles!" Broly finally couldn't hold back and shouted his name.

Broly's voice reached Turles. His rampaging body paused for an instant, and a flicker of struggle passed through his red eyes. But it was soon swallowed up by his savagery!

Though it lasted only a brief moment, Broly had seen a glimmer of hope. He charged at Turles again, calling his name repeatedly from beside his ear.

The buzzing in his ears only made Turles more irritable. He couldn't help swinging a hand at Broly, who dodged. The slap landed squarely on Turles's own face.

After taking that slap, Turles seemed to have stunned himself. The savagery slowly faded from his eyes, leaving only confusion.

"Turles!"

Broly hadn't noticed the change in Turles's eyes and continued calling his name.

"Enough, Broly! You're giving me a headache!" A voice like rolling thunder rang out, making Broly's ears buzz.

Ignoring the discomfort in his ears, Broly looked at Turles's red eyes and asked excitedly, "Turles, are you back to normal?"

"Yeah! I'm back!" Turles instinctively lowered his voice, then added with some frustration, "I woke myself up by slapping myself!"

Though Turles had lowered his voice, it still sounded like a thunderclap beside Broly's ears, so Broly discreetly moved a little farther away.

"Then, Turles, can you change back?" Broly asked, looking at the giant beast before him.

"I don't know either. I'll try," Turles said, closing his eyes.

Turles didn't fully understand his current condition. In theory, he hadn't been exposed to the full moon, so he hadn't been irradiated by Blutz Waves, meaning Great Ape Transformation shouldn't have been possible. Yet not only had he successfully transformed into a Great Ape, he'd also managed to stay rational in that form—even if he'd had to slap himself back to his senses.

With his eyes closed, Turles focused on examining the changes in his body. He suddenly realized that, in his Great Ape state, his cells were ten times more active than in his normal state. That made him understand why Saiyans gained ten times their strength when they transformed.

In Great Ape form, every cell in his body seemed to hold limitless energy. It supplied the power his enormous body needed to move and enhanced his physical capabilities from within, improving both his physical strength and the intensity of his ki.

Turles was astonished by the immense energy hidden within his body. He suddenly felt that none of the Saiyans had truly unlocked the vast power within them. Great Ape Transformation alone wasn't enough to make the Saiyans a warrior race. But if they could draw out that hidden energy, even just a little, they would become the most terrifying race in the universe.

Turles continued examining his body. His Psychic Power gradually moved toward his tail. He remembered that he'd activated Great Ape Transformation without a full moon by repeatedly stimulating his tail with his psychic energy.

Turles cautiously reached out with his Psychic Power to touch his tail. But the moment he did, he felt like a floodgate had opened. The energy inside his body began pouring out, and the tail was where it escaped.

Outside, Turles's body began to shrink. The brown fur covering him slowly retracted into his body, and his enormous, star-shaped face shrank until he gradually returned to his original appearance.

Back in his original form, Turles was bare-chested and looked utterly drained, barely able to support himself.

"Broly!" Turles called, his voice weak.

This was the first time Turles had felt so weak since recovering from the serious injuries he'd suffered right after arriving in this world. The familiar yet strange feeling made him nostalgic, but also somewhat uneasy.

Broly landed and hurried to support Turles, looking worriedly at him in this unfamiliar state.

Seeing the worry in Broly's eyes, Turles gave him a faint smile and said, "Help me back in a bit. Don't worry about anything else for now. If Bels comes looking, let your father deal with him. You don't need to make any promises. We'll wait until I wake up, and then..."

Before he could finish, Turles's head lolled to one side, and he collapsed into Broly's arms, unconscious.

When Turles regained consciousness, he was submerged in recovery fluid. Each breath he exhaled through the oxygen mask sent a few bubbles rising through the liquid.

"Gurgle!"

Hearing the noise, Carl immediately pressed the button to drain the fluid. As it emptied, Turles's body appeared before everyone.

He pulled off the oxygen mask and stepped naked out of the Healing Tank, then picked up the clothes beside it and put them on.

Once dressed, Turles ignored everyone's curious looks and carefully sensed the condition of his body. A moment later, a faint smile appeared on his lips.

Though things had gone a little wrong this time, Turles's cells had become more active, and his ki had increased slightly. By his estimate, his battle power was now close to 100,000. That made him a formidable fighter, even by Universe 7 standards.

As soon as Turles opened his eyes, Paragus urgently asked, "How are you, Turles? How could you transform into a Great Ape without a full moon?"

Paragus's urgency was understandable. Great Ape Transformation was both a way for Saiyans to increase their battle power and a means of survival.

On planets without a full moon, Saiyans usually created an Artificial Moon to meet the conditions for transformation, but not every Saiyan could master that ability.

If Turles's method of transforming without a full moon could be used by all Saiyans, it would vastly increase their strength. As the future king of the Saiyans, Paragus had already begun planning for the future, even though he hadn't yet found many Saiyans.

Turles didn't feel any need to hide what he'd learned. Great Ape Transformation boosted battle power, but the limitations after transforming were too severe, and Turles didn't think much of the ability. If he was going to transform, he'd rather become a Super Saiyan. It gave him a fiftyfold boost in strength, and, more importantly, he looked handsome afterward. Strength was only temporary, but good looks lasted a lifetime. So Turles told Paragus everything he'd discovered and suspected, down to the smallest detail.

After hearing Turles's account, Paragus fell into thought.

Paragus was one of the few Saiyans with a keen intellect and possessed far more knowledge than most of his race. The fact that he'd managed to build a control device to restrain Broly on a desolate planet like Planet Vampa spoke for itself, even though he was currently focused entirely on the Gravity Chamber.

Paragus quickly drew a conclusion from Turles's discovery: this method wouldn't work for all Saiyans. For one thing, the need for Psychic Power alone would rule out most of them.

Noticing Paragus's disappointment, Turles asked in confusion, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"

Paragus explained what he'd realized, then shared some of the data he'd gathered in his research years ago.

Back on Planet Vegeta, Paragus had once joined a Science Division called the Saiyan Rise Project. It had been established shortly after King Vegeta took the throne.

King Vegeta had lived up to his status as a ruler. As soon as he took the throne, he brought together the few Saiyan researchers of the time and established the Science Division. Its goal was to use technology to increase Saiyans' base battle power, so that they would be stronger after transforming into Great Apes. They had even proposed the Great Ape Legion plan to rebel against Frieza's rule.

Paragus had been drawn in by King Vegeta's charisma and joined the Science Division. He had soon demonstrated an exceptional talent for research, so he knew the Saiyans' various statistics very well.
