Background

A-Zi was originally a purple-mutated Blue Silver Grass soul beast with roughly 80,000 years of cultivation. Her veins turned purple after she was struck by purple lightning, leaving her with a lightning attribute that remained after her transformation. Chen Xing previously saved her from a Man Faced Demon Spider, making him the benefactor she remembers most deeply 98 100.

After learning of Ah Yin's suffering, A-Zi resolved to avenge the Blue Silver Emperor. She later took human form and adopted the name “A-Zi.” Her transformation surprised Chen Xing because she had not yet reached the cultivation normally expected of soul beasts taking human form 98.

Unlike Ah Yin, A-Zi refused to accept a non-offensive Blue Silver Grass martial soul. Under Chen Xing's guidance, she used Ah Yin's Blue Silver Overlord Spear as a model and painfully reshaped her martial soul origin into the Blue Silver Purple Thunder Spear 99 100.

Tang Hao gravely injured A-Zi in the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well after she refused to reveal Chen Xing's identity. He shattered her martial soul, severed her meridians, and left her near death; she ultimately revealed that she was a soul beast in human form in exchange for an oath that he would not harm Chen Xing 138 139. Chen Xing chose to save her rather than pursue Tang Hao, using Golden Light and three immortal herbs to restore her meridians and re-condense her martial soul 140 141 143.

She can also be mischievous and childish. She hides in bed to eat candy and read novels instead of training, pries into Chen Xing's personal life, and repeatedly provokes Bibi Dong despite being warned not to disturb her cultivation 108 129 167 171 172.

Beneath her playful behavior, A-Zi is fiercely loyal. She faces Tang Hao alone while Chen Xing is absorbing a soul ring, accepts devastating injury rather than immediately expose him, and later attacks Yu Xiaogang when she sees Chen Xing in distress 137 140 190. Her attachment to Chen Xing gradually becomes openly romantic, despite his initial insistence on treating her as a younger sister 139 164 266.
