Background / History

Qian Daoliu is a devout follower of the Angel God who regularly prays before the Angel God statue in the Worship Hall. Golden Crocodile Douluo, the Second Worship, addresses him as “Big Brother,” reflecting Qian Daoliu’s senior position among the hall’s elders. 12

He brought the orphaned Bibi Dong to Martial Soul City because of her exceptional talent and treated her like a granddaughter. Qian Xunji, Qian Daoliu’s son, later accepted Bibi Dong as a disciple and named her the Saintess of Martial Soul Hall. 58

As Qian Renxue’s grandfather, Qian Daoliu attempts to compensate for the affection she lacks from Bibi Dong by protecting and indulging her. His devotion to her later conflicts with his belief that her destiny as heir to the Angel God must come before personal attachments. 11 25 31

Qian Daoliu is composed, patient, and intensely strategic. He does not rush to judgment: when Qian Renxue asks him to investigate Jiang Bai, he orders a thorough background check, verifies Jiang Bai’s lack of ties to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, and chooses observation over direct interference. 12

His greatest attachment is Qian Renxue. He secretly watches over her, personally intervenes when Bibi Dong threatens her, and gives Jiang Bai a substantial reward because Jiang Bai helped her confront her pain. 10 22 23

However, his protectiveness is compromised by his rigid view of Qian Renxue’s future. Fearing that Jiang Bai’s comparatively limited potential could obstruct her path to the Angel God, he accepts Bibi Dong’s bargain for Jiang Bai’s life in exchange for better treatment of Qian Renxue. The decision leaves him guilt-ridden and damages Qian Renxue’s trust in him. 25 31 32

Jiang Bai Investigation

After seeing Jiang Bai comfort the crying Qian Renxue by the lake, Qian Daoliu delays revealing himself to judge Jiang Bai’s intentions. At Qian Renxue’s request, he orders Golden Crocodile Douluo to investigate Jiang Bai’s lineage, talent, and possible connection to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect. 10 12

The investigation finds that Jiang Bai is likely Ning Fengping’s son, has awakened the Seven Treasures Glazed Pagoda with innate soul power level nine, and has no confirmed sect ties. Qian Daoliu allows Jiang Bai and Qian Renxue’s friendship to develop naturally while continuing to monitor the situation. 12

Qian Renxue’s Defiance of Bibi Dong

When Bibi Dong insists that Qian Renxue carry out the Nation-Stealing Plan, Qian Daoliu refuses to impose a choice on his granddaughter and leaves the decision to her. 20

After Qian Renxue refuses Bibi Dong’s arrangement and is attacked, Qian Daoliu intervenes directly, shields her, stabilizes her injuries, and takes her from the Pope’s Palace. 23

The Sacrifice of Jiang Bai

Although Qian Daoliu values Jiang Bai and recognizes his sincere bond with Qian Renxue, he becomes concerned that their growing intimacy may interfere with her pursuit of the Angel God inheritance. 25
