Life in the Far North

Snow Empress spent most of her hundreds of thousands of years in the Far North, sleeping or cultivating, and knew relatively little about the outside world. As its true ruler, she faced a looming 700,000-year tribulation; even Ice Empress regarded that trial as a terrifying threat 50 53.

Agreement with Jiang Bai

After Jiang Bai saved a young Ice Jade Scorpion, he offered Ice Empress the location of a Myriad-Year Profound Ice Cave in exchange for ten years of protection and a share of its marrow. Snow Empress arrived during their negotiations, heard the proposal, and joined Ice Empress in swearing an oath in the Ice God's name. Breaking such an oath could bring rejection by the Far North and possible divine punishment 50.

Snow Empress transported the group to Dragon City and located the cave beneath a Cold Spring. Of its forty-five pieces of Myriad-Year Profound Ice Marrow, she collected thirty for herself and Ice Empress and delivered the agreed fifteen to Jiang Bai. She also gathered all the Ice Extreme Divine Crystals into a storage soul tool for him 51 52.

Rather than immediately entering seclusion, she accepted Jiang Bai's proposal to explore the human world during their ten-year agreement. Following his directions, she located the toxic valley containing the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well in Sunset Forest 53.

Life Inside the Pagoda

While Jiang Bai absorbed the Aromatic Silk Beauty, Snow Empress shielded him against the well's opposing ice and fire energies. His martial soul subsequently evolved into the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda and absorbed the valley, including both empresses. Despite her efforts to resist and protect Ice Empress, Snow Empress could not stop its space-directed suction 55 56.

The expanded pagoda could accommodate outside residents without requiring a spirit-ring connection. Recognizing its cultivation benefits, Snow Empress chose to stay there with Ice Empress and told Jiang Bai to contact them spiritually whenever he needed help. Both could freely leave the space 56 57.

Teaching and Breakthrough

At Jiang Bai's request, Snow Empress began teaching him her Three Ultimate Techniques, starting with Emperor Sword. He grasped its initial form and intent in two and a half months—far sooner than the several years she had anticipated. She then began instructing him in Emperor's Palm 67 68 69.

The Ice Dragon's tribulation-free growth to 100,000 years prompted the empresses to ask whether they could attempt their own breakthroughs inside the pagoda. Snow Empress guarded Ice Empress's successful advance to 400,000 years, then absorbed more Profound Ice Marrow and reached 700,000 years herself. Neither underwent Heavenly Tribulation, although the breakthroughs attracted attention outside the tower and briefly endangered Jiang Bai 68 69 70.

Interest in the Auspicious Beast

In Silvers City, Snow Empress recognized Jiang Li'er as the Emperor Auspicious Beast and sought to bring her to the Far North. She offered Bi Ji knowledge of her breakthrough in exchange for a visit, while withholding the pagoda's tribulation-avoidance secret 72 74 75.

Bi Ji invoked Di Tian as a deterrent, but Snow Empress revealed her new cultivation and expressed confidence that she could contend with him even outside her home territory. She ultimately abandoned the immediate attempt after Jiang Bai and Bi Ji explained that Jiang Li'er's cultivation-enhancing aura had become negligible in human form.
