Life in the Far North

Ice Empress rose from an ordinary Ice Jade Scorpion to a ferocious beast approaching 400,000 years of cultivation through extensive fighting. As one of the Far North's Three Heavenly Kings, she possesses combat experience accumulated through countless life-and-death encounters 68.

A previous Myriad-Year Profound Ice Cave in the Far North had been emptied by an Ice Silkworm. Ice Empress hunted the silkworm for years, but it eventually escaped and disappeared. With her next Heavenly Tribulation approaching, she reduced her cultivation speed while seeking a safer means of advancement 50.

Alliance with Jiang Bai

During an avalanche, Jiang Bai saves a young Ice Jade Scorpion by holding up an enormous ice boulder. Ice Empress intervenes when his strength begins to fail, shattering the boulder before it can crush him. Although hostile toward humans, she spares him in recognition of his kindness to her clansmen 49 50.

Jiang Bai offers the location of another Myriad-Year Profound Ice Cave in exchange for ten years of protection and a share of its marrow. Ice Empress and Snow Empress accept, swearing an oath in the Ice God's name. Her interest extends beyond her own survival: she also hopes the treasure will help Snow Empress overcome her approaching tribulation 50.

The group discovers the cave beneath a Cold Spring in Dragon City. Its forty-five pieces of Myriad-Year Profound Ice Marrow transform Ice Empress's suspicion into enthusiastic approval. Snow Empress collects thirty pieces for the empresses and gives Jiang Bai the remaining fifteen. Ice Empress unsuccessfully offers additional years of protection and treasures from her clan in exchange for his share 51 52.

Travels and Combat Training

Ice Empress accompanies Jiang Bai and Snow Empress into the human world. At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well in Sunset Forest, she knocks Poison Douluo Dugu Bo unconscious with a single casual strike when he attacks the group 53 54.

When Jiang Bai's martial soul evolves into the Nine Treasures Glazed Pagoda, it draws both empresses and the well into its internal world. Unlike its earlier form, the pagoda can now accommodate outside occupants. Ice Empress recognizes its pure, balanced energy as an exceptional cultivation opportunity, and both empresses subsequently leave the space unharmed 52 56 57.

Over more than two months, she serves as Jiang Bai's daily sparring partner while Snow Empress teaches him the Emperor Sword. His first successful strike briefly freezes and numbs her arm without truly injuring her. Ice Empress's practical instruction helps him turn the technique's theory into usable combat skill 67 68.

Tribulation-Free Breakthrough

After witnessing Jiang Bai's Ice Dragon reach 100,000-year cultivation without a Heavenly Tribulation, the empresses ask to attempt their own breakthroughs inside his pagoda. Ice Empress volunteers to go first, absorbing Profound Ice Marrow while Snow Empress stands guard 68 69.

She successfully reaches 400,000 years without a tribulation, then guards Snow Empress during her successful 700,000-year breakthrough. Their advancement still attracts the Heavenly Dao's attention outside the pagoda, placing Jiang Bai under threatening tribulation clouds, but he is ultimately not struck 70.

During later travels, Ice Empress initially clashes with Jiang Li'er before their interaction develops into friendly banter. She and Snow Empress eventually request secluded cultivation inside the pagoda to consolidate their strength, remaining available to be summoned if Jiang Bai faces danger he cannot handle 75 81 83.
