Background / History
Beirut had been confined to the Yulan Continent for more than ten thousand years and regarded the continent as wholly within his control. When an unknown magic formation appeared at the South Sea, its energy unsettled even him; he initially suspected it was a teleportation channel or a seal comparable to the one linked to the Gebada Plane Prison. 2
When five non-Saint humans arrived through the formation, Beirut concluded that its other endpoint was a Material Plane. Rather than soul-searching them, he questioned them about Blue Star, relocated them to the Rhine Empire, and told them to return to the Dark Forest if they wished to go home. He kept them alive and under observation so he could study the connection further. 5
His investigation expanded after a Saint-level Crimson Feather Golden Phoenix crossed over from Blue Star. Beirut brought her to the Metal Castle for questioning, learning that Blue Star had only begun cultivation ten thousand years earlier and knew neither the Divine Planes nor Plane Guardians. 12 He later used a Contract Scroll to appoint a Mid-level God gatekeeper for the teleportation array. 13
Beirut and Qinghuo subsequently sent agents to Blue Star while concealing their own involvement. Reports that Blue Star's cultivation system had seemingly been bestowed by a Highgod made Beirut wary of provoking an unknown power. 66 His caution increased when Fila's investigation suggested that Blue Star might be connected to a Sovereign, possibly Augusta. 73
Fang Yun's rapid rise repeatedly surprised Beirut, from learning that the Blue Star native commanded renowned Six-Star Fiend alchemists to discovering that he had become a Wind-style Paragon High-God. 74 102 Beirut later aided Fang Yun by forging divine weapons, seeking a Tree of Life Branch through Pash, and helping organize Blue Star's development. 102 103 116
After Fang Yun disclosed that he was Blue Star's Sovereign, Beirut and Qinghuo shifted from investigation to cooperation, mobilizing forces and preparing for the competition over Sovereign Sparks. 111 112 Beirut helped Linley refine an Earth Low-level Sovereign Spark from the Necropolis of the Gods, then became a leading member of the Blue Star Sovereigns. 137

Personality
Beirut is intensely curious when confronted with phenomena beyond his understanding. The unexplained Blue Star teleportation array attracted his attention precisely because it disrupted the complete control he believed he held over the Yulan Continent. 2 5
He is cautious despite his immense power. He delayed personally visiting Blue Star until he believed its basic safety had been established, and he concealed key information about Blue Star while investigating it. 73 97 110
His treatment of others can be detached and ruthless. He views the Necropolis of the Gods as a diversion and expects potential candidates in his plans to survive hardship without excessive intervention. 5 66 However, he is openly pleased by the achievements of those he favors, particularly Linley and Beibei. 137
