Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Hero LV2 6 Spent 10 Favor after defeating the Prisoner-Dead. Constitution increased from 7 to 8, Spirituality from 14 to 15, and he gained Aura of Protection. 6

Background / History

Gu Hang is a transmigrator and a core member of the Gu Family, a long-established political family of the Pegasus Sector. He arrived on war-ravaged Nuxiao Planet as its new Imperial-appointed governor, inheriting a post-apocalyptic world whose previous three governors had each failed to survive their two-year tax term. 2 11

Rather than assume nominal control of Revival City and its Alliance government, Gu Hang established an independent camp nearby. The system he gained upon transmigration only recognized territory under his actual control, leading him to build a loyal base of population, industry, and soldiers from scratch. 2 14

His first major intervention was the rescue of the Waste Mine Society from the Prisoner-Dead bandits. Gu Hang promised not merely to eliminate the bandits, but to develop the settlement into a prosperous territory; after his forces won, he integrated the society into his growing power base. 1 8 10

He subsequently expanded his authority through military victories, industrial development, trade with Trash Town, and pressure against Revival City’s Alliance Council. His long-term objective is to seize Revival City only once he can purge its existing power structure and wield sufficient conventional force to govern it directly. 14 26 38

Personality

Gu Hang combines sincere ambition for Nuxiao Planet’s recovery with a pragmatic, often ruthless political style. He promises food, security, education, productive work, and “higher pursuits” to the people under his rule, and repeatedly treats development as inseparable from survival. 1 8 33

He is direct when exercising authority, preferring demands and deadlines over evasive negotiation. He pressured Chairman Mirian Hodgson for supplies and intelligence, used Vaughan’s cult connection as leverage against Revival City, and made Dennison Henry submit to a subordinate role rather than treat him as an equal business partner. 14 18 30 36

In battle, Gu Hang is cautious but willing to take personal risks when his psionic abilities are indispensable. Following the Xenomorph Forest battle, he acknowledged that facing the Howling Wind Divine Envoy personally had been dangerously reckless, even though it was necessary to save Yan Fangxu’s trapped forces. 39 42 49

Abilities & Skills

Psionic Casting

Gu Hang is a legitimate psionic caster with high Spirituality and formal knowledge of psionic techniques inherited through his family’s cultivation. 6

  • Uses Soul Severing / Psionic Severance to disable or kill targets by attacking their soul or psionic connections. 5 20 45
  • Severed Kaga’s leg during the Prisoner-Dead battle, making the Greenskin-mutated bandit vulnerable to gunfire. 6
  • Used psychic perception to identify enemies inside fortified bunkers and eliminate their machine gunners. 20
  • Interrupted Vaughan’s Wind Bullet and later cut through his weakened Storm Shield. 21 22
  • Broke the cultists’ control over Storm Eagles rather than attacking the stronger cultists directly, forcing them from the sky. 45
  • Can distinguish innate psionic power from heretical power borrowed from dark gods. 24
  • Heavy expenditure can leave him fatigued, with headaches and a risk of severe mental or physical consequences if his power is exhausted completely. 49

Aura of Protection

A passive Hero talent gained at LV2 that automatically expends Spirituality to negate incoming damage. 6

  • Requires no activation before an attack, making it effective against ambushes. 6
  • Can be disabled deliberately to conserve Spirituality for offensive casting. 6
  • Saved Gu Hang from the Howling Wind Divine Envoy’s full-force storm assault, though it nearly exhausted all of his psionic power. 47 49

Grace System

Gu Hang possesses a system interface fueled by Grace/Favor, which he earns from territory income and military victories. 2 6

  • Can rapidly raise troop training levels, turning untrained recruits into regular T5 soldiers within days. 2 13 26
  • Upgraded 11 Marine Assault Team soldiers from T4 to T3 at the cost of 1 Grace each. 46
  • Can improve his own Hero level and gain talents. 6
  • Can unlock technologies through a probability-based Technology interface. 10 25
  • Can activate eligible individuals as Heroes, including Yan Fangxu, Pobov, and Osana Chenko. 25 50

Military Command and Strategy

Gu Hang is an active commander who combines intelligence gathering, superior firepower, and selective use of psionics.

  • Ordered the ambush and destruction of the Prisoner-Dead after learning they intended to sell captives to Orks. 3
  • Used Strider Type V armored vehicles to break the mercenary defenses at Mantan Valley Manor while reducing infantry losses. 19
  • Personally supported the assault on the manor by neutralizing bunker crews with psionic attacks. 20
  • Prepared ammunition reserves, armored support, and elite troops before entering the Xenomorph Forest trap. 42 43
  • Prioritizes his soldiers’ lives over symbolic displays of loyalty, refusing to waste the Waste Mine Company in Vaughan’s manor assault. 21

Governance and Development

Gu Hang treats industrial capacity, trade, population growth, and military strength as connected parts of planetary reconstruction.

  • Developed the Waste Mine Society into a heavy-industry center centered on Alloy Plasteel production and planned Thermal Ash Stone power generation. 11 33
  • Positioned the Governor’s Camp as a transport hub and light-industry center, including textile and synthetic-starch production. 33
  • Established night schools for literacy and technical training. 33
  • Introduced a work-point system linking labor and technical qualifications to supplies and welfare rations. 33
  • Used Dennison Henry’s trade network to obtain supplies, recruit refugees, and expand influence in Trash Town. 29 33 36

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Aura of Protection — passive defensive talent fueled by Spirituality. 6
  • Black Box Fabricators — manifested a Mother Machine Black Box and a Finished Product Black Box for industrial production, including Alloy Plasteel materials and manufacturing components. 11
  • G9 Gun Family technology — successfully unlocked through the Technology interface; intended for limited deployment and future production. 25
  • Strider Type V armored vehicles — four vehicles acquired from the Quintet and used as armored breakthrough assets. 13 19
  • Infantry Fighting Vehicle — used as his command vehicle during the Xenomorph Forest battle. 43 49

Relationships

  • Yan Fangxu — Marine captain and Gu Hang’s principal military commander. Yan initially doubts Gu Hang’s plans but increasingly trusts his leadership and abilities. 1 23 24 48
  • Patel — leader of the Waste Mine Society and an early supporter. Gu Hang rescues Patel’s people, integrates their settlement, and entrusts him with heavy-industrial production. 1 8 11 49
  • Commodore Yelicia — captain of the Quintet and political ally from the Fofana Family. Their relationship is transactional but mutually beneficial: Gu Hang offers future military merit, while Yelicia provides equipment, personnel, and synthetic-starch technology. 12 13 32
  • Mirian Hodgson — chairman of the Revival City Alliance Council. Gu Hang repeatedly pressures Hodgson for supplies, intelligence, and action against cultists while preparing to intervene in the city’s government. 14 18 31 38
  • Lambert Hodgson — Hodgson’s grandson, who comes to view Gu Hang as a possible savior for Nuxiao Planet. 39
  • Pobov — former Waste Mine Society member elevated into command of the 2nd Infantry Battalion. Pobov develops profound loyalty toward Gu Hang after witnessing his conduct and psionic power in battle. 20 26 45 48
  • Dennison Henry — Trash Town merchant employed as Gu Hang’s trading agent. Gu Hang supports Henry’s rise while firmly establishing that Henry is a subordinate, not an equal partner. 29 30 36
  • Vaughan — Alliance Council member captured after looting Gu Hang’s supplies and resisting with storm sorcery; Gu Hang identifies his connection to the Primal Owlbear Cult. 22 24

Story Role / Major Arcs

Consolidation and Revival City Pressure

After acquiring equipment from Yelicia, Gu Hang demands supplies from Revival City and responds to the hijacking of a food shipment by attacking Mantan Valley Manor. He captures Vaughan alive, exposing both the councilor’s crimes and cult connections. 13 14 17 19 22

Territorial Development

Gu Hang builds a production-and-trade network connecting the Waste Mine Society, Governor’s Camp, Mantan Valley Manor, Revival City, and Trash Town. He expands industrial production, recruits refugees, improves literacy, and establishes incentives for skilled labor. 26 29 33 36

Xenomorph Forest and Cultist Ambush

When Yan Fangxu’s forces are trapped in the forest, Gu Hang leads a rescue force while anticipating a cultist ambush. Trivia

  • Gu Hang’s system initially recognized only his temporary camp as territory; nominal authority over Nuxiao Planet and Revival City provided no system income. 2 14
  • He trained 300 servitor soldiers to T5 regular-army standard for only 3 Grace points, despite servitors ordinarily being treated as disposable cannon fodder. 2
  • His successful Technology-interface draw unlocked the G9 Gun Family at a 70% success rate; two further 10-Grace attempts failed as the displayed success rates fell to 40% and then 0%. 25
  • After the Xenomorph Forest battle, Gu Hang received 86 Grace points, his largest recorded windfall to that point. 49
