Background / History
Zhou Yuan was born as the prince of Great Zhou with the Saint Dragon Destiny. His destiny was stolen, leaving him afflicted by the Resentful Dragon Poison and unable to manifest his eight meridians. The poison also endangered his mother Qin Yu, whose remaining lifespan became a driving force behind his determination to cultivate and retaliate against the Great Wu Dynasty 7 8.
Initially frail and ostracized in Great Zhou Mansion, Zhou Yuan remained approachable and unpretentious. He first met Mu Chen while escorting him through the royal palace, readily asking him to use his name rather than formal titles 7. Mu Chen's Ancestral Stone Spirit Liquid temporarily improved Zhou Yuan's health, but could not cure the poison or restore his ability to cultivate 15.
During the Great Zhou Ancestral Sacrifice, Zhou Yuan activated an ancient Source Pattern with his blood and was transported to Cangyuan's hidden domain. He offered himself as Cangyuan's disciple, endured the latter's abyss trial, and awakened his Eight Meridians. Cangyuan then accepted him and entrusted him with foundational techniques and the Heaven Origin Brush 25 26 27.
After rapidly reopening his meridians, Zhou Yuan defeated Qi Yue and established himself as Great Zhou's restored Saint Dragon prodigy. He later joined Mu Chen and Yaoyao in Canglan County, where he helped secure Wei Canglan's allegiance by saving Wei Bin and acquired resources needed for his cultivation 35 36 41 66.
Zhou Yuan's conflict with Wu Huang culminated at the Sacred Land. Though Wu Huang held a higher cultivation realm and used a Heaven Origin Art, Zhou Yuan used Mu Chen's borrowed spatial origin to teleport behind him and behead him. He recovered two-thirds of the Saint Dragon Destiny from Wu Huang's body 101 105.
After joining Cang Xuan Sect, Zhou Yuan continued pursuing resources to suppress the Resentful Dragon Poison, improve the Ancestral Dragon Scripture, and reclaim the remaining destiny. He cultivated the Profound Saint Body at the Water Fire Dragon Forging Platform, then returned to Great Zhou to confront Wu Wang. Following Wu Huang's death, he opened nine Divine Mansions and protected his dynasty against the Great Wu threat 133 222 225 227.
Appearance
Zhou Yuan first appeared as a pale, thin twelve- or thirteen-year-old boy whose frailty reflected the effects of the Resentful Dragon Poison. He possessed pale golden eyes and a delicate appearance that contrasted sharply with his later martial presence 7.
- Initially had a weak complexion and insufficient blood and energy due to the poison 7.
- His Qi Mansion was blood-colored, likely due to contamination from the Resentful Dragon Poison 37.
- In advanced combat, he wears purple-gold dragon-scale battle armor and manifests purple-gold dragon eyes 368.
- His complete Saint Dragon Body gives him the bearing of an ancient Saint Dragon 368.
Personality
Zhou Yuan is courteous and largely free of princely arrogance. Despite his royal position, he casually introduced himself to Mu Chen and was willing to seek help directly when his circumstances demanded it 7 25. He is conscious of his initial weakness, but refuses to let shame or envy stop him from advancing.
His defining trait is persistence. He endured years without being able to cultivate, survived Cangyuan's trial despite fear, and accepted that secondary meridian opening would require greater effort than ordinary cultivation 25 26. He also possesses a strong personal pride: while accepting protection from Mu Chen and Yaoyao before his decisive battle, he insisted that Wu Huang was an enemy he had to defeat himself 77.
Zhou Yuan can be calculating when confronting rivals. He deliberately concealed his eight-meridian cultivation until Qi Yue used the Meridian Breaking Art, maximizing the humiliation of an opponent who had repeatedly belittled him 34 35. Even so, he remains composed in critical battles and prioritizes Great Zhou's survival over personal anger 227.
Abilities & Skills
Saint Dragon Destiny
Zhou Yuan was born with the Saint Dragon Destiny, a supreme fortune that was stolen from him in childhood. Recovering it became central to both his cultivation and his conflict with the Great Wu Dynasty.
- Its theft left him unable to cultivate naturally and afflicted him with the Resentful Dragon Poison 7 8.
- Recovering two-thirds of the destiny from Wu Huang enabled his nine-Divine-Mansion breakthrough 105 227.
- Wu Yao later returned the remaining portion, restoring the destiny completely 356.
- The completed destiny allowed him to advance from the first to third Law Domain stage and supported the third layer of the Ancestral Dragon Scripture 356.
Ancestral Dragon Scripture
A cultivation art chosen by Zhou Yuan despite its demanding material requirements.
- Its first layer produces Heaven-Piercing Black Python Qi, a Fifth Grade Origin Energy comparable to ordinary Sixth Grade Origin Energy 71.
- Its advancement depends on recovering the Saint Dragon Destiny and collecting specific Origin Materials 71 129.
- By the third layer, it grants Ninth Grade Source Qi 356.
- Its ultimate path leads toward the legendary Qiankun Saint Dragon Qi 71.
Dragon Absorption Technique
A technique taught by Cangyuan that improves Zhou Yuan's absorption of heaven and earth Origin Energy.
- Its introductory practice uses the ninety-eight stances of the Dragon Forging Exercise 30.
- Zhou Yuan comprehended the exercise immediately after watching Tuntun demonstrate it 30.
- At higher mastery, ordinary inhalation and exhalation become part of the technique's energy absorption 30.
Origin Pattern Mastery
Zhou Yuan possesses strong comprehension in Origin Patterns and uses them for cultivation, defense, and combat.
- Learned the Grade 1 Ice Fire Gathering Origin Pattern from Yaoyao, estimating a sixty-to-seventy percent chance of engraving it successfully 32.
- Was advised to familiarize himself with Third Grade offensive and defensive Origin Patterns before facing Wu Huang 77.
- Uses the Great Dragon Subduing Pattern to suppress the Resentful Dragon Poison 133.
- His Barrier-Breaking Sacred Mark and defensive patterns helped him survive Wu Huang's Heaven Origin Art long enough to counterattack 101.
Profound Saint Body
A High-grade Heaven Origin Art for external body cultivation.
- Cultivated through the Water Fire Dragon Forging Platform, eventually enduring its Level Four intensity 222 223.
- Greatly strengthened his physical body and direct combat ability 225.
- Combined with his other arts, it allowed him to directly contest Wu Wang after entering the Divine Mansion Realm 227.
Complete Saint Dragon Body
Zhou Yuan's advanced dragon-form physique, gained after his Origin Energy reached Heaven and Earth Saint Dragon Qi.
- Manifested through purple-gold scales and dragon-like eyes 368.
- Durable enough to contend with a Half-Saint, though still inferior to a true Saint Body 368.
- Sustained heavy damage when confronting an opponent wielding genuine Saintly Might 368.
Resentful Dragon Poison
The poison is both Zhou Yuan's greatest affliction and a dangerous final trump card.
- It consumed his vitality and prevented his Eight Meridians from manifesting for years 7 15.
- Its toxicity surpasses Miasma Demon Poison, but activating it at low cultivation risks killing Zhou Yuan himself 41.
- Yaoyao regarded it as a decisive hidden advantage against Wu Wang 227.
- Zhou Yuan prioritized obtaining the Great Dragon Subduing Pattern's materials because suppressing the poison was more urgent than further advancement of the Ancestral Dragon Scripture 133.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Heaven Origin Brush — Former Saintly Source Weapon reluctantly given to Zhou Yuan by Cangyuan; its Origin Patterns enhance his attacks and defenses 27 227.
- Silver Shadow / spatial origin — A fragment of the Space Ancestral Symbol's origin lent by Mu Chen for the battle with Wu Huang; enabled short-distance teleportation 96 101.

- Wu Yao — Rival who possessed the remaining portion of the Saint Dragon Destiny. She was initially stronger than Zhou Yuan, but later returned the final portion of his destiny 229 356.
