Background / History

Hirata begins as one of Class 1-D's most socially capable students. Shortly after enrollment, he organizes voluntary self-introductions, gives a polished account of his love for sports and soccer, and asks classmates to call him “Yosuke.” His initiative establishes him as an early center of influence within the class. 1

By the beginning of May, Class 1-D has developed major social groups centered on Hirata and Karuizawa Kei. Hirata remains a dependable presence during the class's financial crisis, lending Kei 10,000 points when she asks. 4

During the Resource Scramble special exam, Hirata leads a team sent to raid Class C's warehouse at Ayanokoji's recommendation. The operation is a trap: his team finds only empty boxes, and Hirata returns bloodstained and furious at having been misled. 6

Following the first timeline's apparent reset, Hirata appears outwardly unchanged and invites Ayanokoji to play soccer. However, Ayanokoji's scan detects a repaired interface-like scar on the back of Hirata's head and a nanoscale red light in his pupils matching the prior clones' signature. 12
