The closer they got to the Eye of the Abyss, the more dangerous teleportation became.
Their goal was to save someone, after all. They weren't about to put themselves in danger first.
But before they could get any closer, an empty abyss suddenly appeared in front of them.
It was as if the space before them had been cut apart. They couldn't get any closer.
Barely half a meter ahead, it was as though another world had appeared.
All three looked at Douglas.
There was no need to say it. This Tier 5 Wizard had to be the one who'd done it.
Floco's face turned bitter. Even at the peak of his power, he couldn't have split open space so effortlessly.
Douglas raised his free hand and held up a finger to his lips.
"Shh..."
After making the gesture, he turned back to Thor, who stood before him. His eyes instantly became a swirling mass of Chaos.
"Look into the abyss carefully. Don't glance away. You'll see the most valuable thing in this world. If you miss it, you'll regret it for the rest of your life."
Thor was suppressed by Douglas once again. He had no choice but to stop looking around and focus on the Death Mist Cluster.
Thor stared at the Death Mist Cluster, but he couldn't help wanting to look away. He felt as if he were witnessing the end of all life: plants withering, rocks weathering, flesh changing, particles decaying.
Yet after the end, things seemed able to begin anew. But that new beginning was hazy. He could see only the outcome; the most important process of change remained completely hidden.
That was the Eye of the Abyss's understanding of the essence of things, as a Sixth Rank being. But its understanding was incomplete, too.
