Chapters 202–226 Vol. 3 Read

Ch. 202The Decision × Glory of the Thief

Nara Dan confronted the Phantom Troupe after killing Feitan and Franklin, and Chrollo chose to stand and fight rather than retreat. Nara Dan repelled the Troupe’s attacks and broke through Machi’s defense, leaving Chrollo studying his seemingly Nen-less power.

  • The Phantom Troupe saw Nara Dan’s black sphere swallow Feitan’s Rising Sun and realized their enemy was approaching.
  • Chrollo rallied the remaining Troupe members to face Nara Dan, who arrived and dismissed their notion of dying with glory.
  • Nara Dan identified the members’ Nen categories and told Chrollo that the Troupe had made an enemy of him.
  • Uvogin and Nobunaga attacked Nara Dan, but his Shinra Tensei blasted them away.
  • Machi shielded Chrollo with Nen Threads, but Nara Dan broke through with Iron Mountain Lean and then used Shinra Tensei to snap the threads and send her flying.
  • Chrollo used Gyo to study Nara Dan and wondered how he could wield such power without using Nen.

Ch. 203Surrounded × Fierce Battle

Nara Dan fought Uvogin and Nobunaga while Chrollo studied his abilities, and the Phantom Troupe discovered the cooldown on Shinra Tensei. Nara Dan restrained Nobunaga with Shadow Possession and repelled the attackers again, then reflected that relying only on his body could leave him vulnerable to unknown Nen abilities.

  • Nara Dan dodged Uvogin and Nobunaga’s attacks, then used their momentum and openings to injure both of them with precise martial techniques.
  • Uvogin and Nobunaga realized Shinra Tensei could not be used repeatedly, and Chrollo estimated its cooldown at around six or seven seconds.
  • Uvogin grabbed Nara Dan and unleashed Super Destructive Fist, but Nara Dan used Shinra Tensei to send him flying as Nobunaga attempted a quick-draw strike.
  • Nara Dan stopped Nobunaga with Shadow Possession Technique just before his blade reached Nara Dan’s throat.
  • Chrollo teleported beside Nara Dan and attacked with a dagger, but could not pierce his skin; Nara Dan then used Shinra Tensei to send Nobunaga and Uvogin into a hollow.
  • Nara Dan recognized Chrollo’s teleportation and considered how varied Nen abilities could challenge someone who relied only on physical combat.

Ch. 204Community of Fate × Dullness Force

Nara Dan fought the Phantom Troupe, overpowering Uvogin and Nobunaga before Chrollo borrowed Uvogin’s Nen and used a tactical combination of stolen abilities. Dan defeated Chrollo with his Release state, leaving Chrollo incapacitated and asking who the mysterious powerhouse was.

  • Dan lifted a massive hill with Banshō Ten'in and sent it toward Uvogin and Nobunaga, forcing Uvogin to hold it up while Nobunaga cut it apart.
  • Chrollo rescued the injured Uvogin and Nobunaga, then borrowed Uvogin’s Enhancement-type Nen through Community of Fate.
  • Chrollo fought Dan with teleportation and learned the limits of Dan’s repulsion and attraction abilities while Dan assessed Chrollo’s movements.
  • Chrollo trapped Dan with Dullness Force and attacked during Shinra Tensei’s cooldown, but Dan entered his Human Body Secret Technique’s Release state and crushed Chrollo’s wrist.
  • Dan struck Chrollo and severely damaged his internal organs, leaving him unable to fight; Chrollo asked Dan to reveal his name.

Ch. 205The Losing Battle × Spiritual Light

Nara Dan resisted Pakunoda’s life-burning mental bullet, but Chrollo escaped after she died. A week later, while studying the captured Machi’s soul, Nara Dan discovered the Spiritual Light behind Nen Abilities and compared it with the fading Spiritual Light of the Ninja World.

  • Pakunoda used her life-burning Nen bullet to implant a command in Nara Dan, then died after urging Chrollo to run.
  • Nara Dan used the Rinnegan’s Human Path to destroy the bullet in his soul, but Chrollo teleported away and escaped.
  • Nara Dan found Nobunaga dead and killed the mortally wounded Uvogin before leaving the battlefield.
  • A week later, Nara Dan stayed with the rescued Kurta Clan and examined the soul of his captive, Machi.
  • Nara Dan discovered Spiritual Light within Machi’s soul and concluded that it underlay Nen Abilities, while considering how Chakra had suppressed it in the Ninja World.

Ch. 206Philosophical Questions × A Strange Thought

Nara Dan reflected on Spiritual Light and his own path toward awakening, then erased Machi's soul after answering her questions about Chrollo and his identity. He collected weapons and herbs from the Kurta Clan and agreed to leave the next day as the clan prepared to relocate.

  • Nara Dan examined Machi's Spiritual Light and speculated that a primordial Nen creature might be harvesting humanity's Spiritual Light.
  • Nara Dan considered the questions behind his own Nen and Spiritual Light, finding a direction for his personal growth.
  • Machi asked whether Chrollo had survived and who Nara Dan was; after answering her, Nara Dan erased her soul.
  • Kurapika found Nara Dan at Machi's room and summoned him to meet the elder, leaving Kurapika shaken by what he saw.
  • The elder gave Nara Dan the crafted kunai and medicinal herbs, then said the Kurta Clan would relocate because their home had been exposed.
  • Nara Dan said he would leave the next day, and the elder watched him depart.

Ch. 207Space-Time Talent × News of the Hunter Exam

After gaining a Space-Time Talent, Nara Dan learned to use the Flying Thunder God technique and left the Kurta settlement to pursue a route to the Dark Continent. In Padokea's capital, he used a stolen Hunter License to find the Hunter Exam's location, planning to meet Netero there and learn about the Dark Continent.

  • Nara Dan gained the Space-Time Talent, recovered about half of his Gang Qi, and tested the Flying Thunder God, discovering that using Chakra prevented his body from being spatially separated.
  • Nara Dan left the Kurta settlement, gave Kurapika a marked Kunai, and told him to focus on becoming stronger.
  • Nara Dan traveled to Padokea's capital with Machi and used a Hunter License taken from the Phantom Troupe to access the Hunters' network.

Ch. 208Heavens Arena × An Opportunity

Nara Dan reached Heavens Arena’s 200th Floor, where Hisoka became fascinated by him after sensing his overwhelming presence. In his private room, Nara Dan recovered from the lingering spacetime energy and prepared to develop a Nen-like ability based on his Gang Qi.

  • Nara Dan defeated his 180th-floor opponent with one strike and accepted the offer to move up to the 200th Floor, where he encountered Hisoka.
  • Hisoka became fixated on Nara Dan as a potential “fruit,” while Nara Dan noticed Hisoka’s malice and decided to use his interest to his advantage.
  • Nara Dan passed the 200th-Floor Nen baptism by releasing his Biological Field pressure, which knocked out the two fighters guarding the passage.
  • Hisoka arrived after Nara Dan had left and excitedly confirmed that the two fighters were unconscious.
  • Nara Dan trained in his private room, expelled the remaining spacetime energy from his body, and resolved to refine his Gang Qi into a Divine Ability.

Ch. 209Qi Eaters Are Divine and Long-Lived!

Nara Dan awakened the Qi Devouring Talent and condensed a Void Talisman that drew energy from the space-time void, transforming his body and soul toward a Primordial state. He gained a greatly extended lifespan and new power, while recognizing that he still fell short of true Primordial Deities.

  • Nara Dan realized that his pursuit of eternity and strength depended on believing in himself, and the Qi Devouring Talent Entry appeared in his Cheat System.
  • Nara Dan used his Space-Time Talent to draw Void Spirit Qi and condensed the Void Talisman, which transformed the energy into spiritual essence that nourished his body and soul.
  • Nara Dan’s cells began evolving toward the nature of Primordial Deities, his Life Entropy Increase slowed, and his expected lifespan rose to at least a millennium.
  • Nara Dan judged that he could defeat ten Tailed Beasts and wear down their undying nature, while the Sage of Six Paths relied on an incomplete Rank and the Ninja World’s energy.
  • Nara Dan’s Gang Qi transformed into Innate Gang Qi as his body continued reversing toward the Primordial state.

Ch. 210Planting Golden Lotus in Fire × An Unknown Hostility

Nara Dan completed his escape from the Otsutsuki’s influence and discovered he could transfer the Rinnegan’s power to Machi. After sensing danger outside Heavens Arena, he confronted Zeno and Silva Zoldyck, who had been hired to assassinate him.

  • Nara Dan used his newly awakened Yin Talisman power to create a Truth-Seeking Orb and recognized that his yin-yang cultivation had become complete.
  • Nara Dan purged the remaining Chakra and Otsutsuki impurities from his body, freeing himself from the Ninja World’s inherited constraints.
  • Nara Dan ground the Rinnegan in his palm into powder and infused its spiritual energy into Machi, making her a Six Paths Clone with Six Paths Unification.
  • Nara Dan left Heavens Arena and noticed that people on the street were watching him; one of them reported his appearance to the head of the family.
  • Nara Dan lured his pursuers into a deserted lane, where Zeno and Silva Zoldyck emerged, and he prepared to test their strength.

Ch. 211The Hungry Assassin × A Reasonable Resolve

Nara Dan overwhelmed Silva and Zeno Zoldyck, revealing his concealed power and teleportation while the assassins tried to survive his attacks. The chapter ended with Zeno escaping and Silva staying behind to cover him as Nara Dan prepared to finish Silva off.

  • Zeno attacked Nara Dan with rapid hand strikes, but Nara Dan dodged them, and Silva’s hundred-ton punch failed to move his head.
  • Nara Dan sent Silva flying with one blow, then cut off Zeno’s arm with a Gang Qi sword that also split buildings behind him.
  • Silva and Zeno recognized that Nara Dan far outmatched them and suspected he could teleport; Nara Dan struck them with Divine Gang: Tathagata, but Silva’s hair-based Nen ability shielded them from the worst of it.
  • Silva told Zeno to escape while he stayed behind, and Zeno flew away on his Dragon Nen Beast as Silva tried to block Nara Dan with his hair.
  • Nara Dan cut through Silva’s hair and wounded his arms, then mocked Silva’s sacrifice and said he would use his newly acquired power to kill him.

Ch. 212Heavenly Giant Form × An Attack That Split the Sky

Nara Dan unveiled his Heavenly Giant Form and killed Silva with a blow that split the sky and shattered a building. He then chased Zeno into the air, but his ascent slowed before he could catch up.

  • Nara Dan discovered he could fly instinctively in his Heavenly Giant Form and charged at Zeno.
  • Zeno sent a Dragon Meteor Shower at Nara Dan, who answered with Divine Gang: Bright King and obliterated Zeno and his Nen Beast.
  • Nara Dan returned to his human form, reflected on his changing nature and the differences between his forms, and noticed the battle at Heavens Arena had ended.
  • Chrollo watched the aftermath from Heavens Arena and realized the fight was over, then encountered Nara Dan disguised as Machi.
  • Chrollo admitted he had been too arrogant, asked whether Nara Dan had been restricted during their earlier fight, and learned that Nara Dan had been injured.
  • Chrollo, unable to use Nen because of forced Zetsu, accepted his fate, and Nara Dan erased him with a Truth-Seeking Orb before leaving.

Ch. 214The Zoldycks' Trump Card × Hisoka's Confusion

Netero learned that Nara Dan had killed Zeno and Silva and planned to meet him at the upcoming Hunter Exam. Maha restrained his anger and considered releasing a monster held in the Zoldyck estate, while Nara Dan returned to Heavens Arena and left Hisoka baffled by his ordinary appearance.

  • Netero reviewed reports of Nara Dan's origins, strength, clash with the Phantom Troupe, and interest in the Hunter Exam, then decided to welcome him there.
  • Kikyo told Maha that Zeno and Silva were dead, and Maha read the reports before his Nen and murderous aura shook the Zoldyck estate.
  • Maha decided he could not attack Nara Dan himself and considered using the dangerous monster imprisoned in the estate.
  • Nara Dan returned to Heavens Arena while waiting for the Hunter Exam and wondered how much time had passed in the Ninja World.
  • Hisoka waited for Nara Dan on the 200th Floor, but was shocked that Nara Dan no longer seemed like a perfect target.

Ch. 215An Arrogant Lunatic × Nanika

Nara Dan effortlessly incapacitated Hisoka after Hisoka attacked him, then repelled Nanika when it appeared in his spiritual world to kill him. He replenished the life energy Nanika had drained and returned to his room, while the creature was left badly injured.

  • Hisoka attacked Nara Dan with playing cards and charged him, but Nara Dan stopped him with his Life Magnetic Field and overwhelmed his mind with a glimpse of his Rank.
  • Hisoka collapsed, and receptionist Fuyumi visited Nara Dan about the incident, accepting that the surveillance footage showed he had not touched Hisoka.
  • Nanika appeared in Nara Dan’s spiritual world, where Nara Dan recognized that someone had wished for his death.
  • Nanika’s malice failed to affect Nara Dan, and it began draining his life energy; he countered by feeding it Void Spirit Qi, forcing it to flee in agony.
  • Nara Dan restored the life energy Nanika had taken and concluded that the creature had suffered much greater damage than he had.

Ch. 216Zoldyck Secrets × The Hunter Exam's Inclinations

  • Nara Dan vanished into the underground passage.

Ch. 217217: Tonpa the Great × the Little Girl Examiner

Nara Dan outwitted Tonpa’s laxative trick and drew the attention of the other examinees before Biscuit Krueger began the 283rd Hunter Exam. Biscuit explained the Gem Maze test, where examinees had to retrieve a gem or collect three number badges and escape before sunset.

  • Nara Dan emerged from the underground passage and met Tonpa, who introduced himself as an experienced examinee and offered him a soda laced with Super Laxative.
  • Nara Dan used Gang Qi to remove the laxative from his drink and transfer it to Tonpa, leaving Tonpa doubled over with cramps and prompting the other examinees to become wary of Nara Dan.
  • Biscuit Krueger appeared before the gathered examinees, proved her strength by smashing the ground, and announced that she was the examiner for the first test.
  • Biscuit led the examinees to the Gem Maze and explained that they could pass by finding one of 50 gems or collecting three number badges and leaving before sunset.
  • The examinees realized that the apparent 150 passing opportunities were uncertain because gems might go unfound and badge battles could leave some with too few.

Ch. 218Overwhelm Cunning with Brute Force × World's Strongest

Nara Dan overwhelmed the Gem Maze examinees and demanded that Biscuit arrange a meeting with Netero, claiming he wanted to fight him and discuss the Dark Continent. As Biscuit called her teacher, Netero arrived by leaping from the Hunter Association airship.

  • At Biscuit's signal, the examinees rushed into the Gem Maze, but Nara Dan flew to its center and knocked them all unconscious with his Life Magnetic Field: Divine Might.
  • Nara Dan retrieved a gem, gave it to Biscuit, and asked whether he had passed the exam.

  • Nara Dan told Netero that he understood his fear of growing old and offered him a final fight against an equal.
  • Netero agreed to provide the Dark Continent information but added that Dan had to accept one more condition.

Ch. 220The Extra Condition of the Deal × Feeling Pain Again

  • Nara Dan agreed not to bring back anything that threatened humanity from the Dark Continent and to wait until Netero died before going there if Netero won their fight.
  • Netero promised to compile information about the Dark Continent within half a month and asked Nara Dan about Maha Zoldyck, whom Nara Dan said he had not fought.
  • Machi arrived at Kukuroo Mountain intending to eliminate the Zoldyck Family and used Shinra Tensei to open the Trial Gate before lifting all seven gates with Banshō Ten'in.

  • The butlers discussed rumors that Silva and Zeno had died before Wutong ordered them to focus on their duties.
  • The Trial Gate crashed through the Zoldyck estate, destroying buildings as Wutong and the surviving butlers escaped the rubble.
  • Wutong sent some butlers to protect Kikyo and the young masters, help survivors, and notify Maha.
  • Wutong attacked Machi with aura-coated coins, but they stopped in midair before reaching her.
  • Machi transformed her hands into missile launchers and drove Wutong and the other butlers into a retreat with repeated volleys.
  • A homing missile exploded behind Wutong, leaving his back mangled and his body battered.

Ch. 222The Peak of Enhancement × Five Elements Mountain

Machi used the Rinnegan’s repulsion and gravity powers to battle Maha Zoldyck, who relied on his immense strength and Nen. She trapped him beneath a massive pile of debris called Five Elements Mountain, leaving him buried when the ground collapsed.

  • Maha arrived to protect Wutong and destroyed Machi’s heat-seeking missiles with a wave of force.
  • Maha struck Machi and resisted her Shinra Tensei and Banshō Ten'in attacks, revealing his overwhelming strength as an Enhancer.
  • Maha noticed that Machi’s body felt more like a corpse than a living person.
  • Machi dropped the Trial Gate onto Maha, and he held it up as she used the Rinnegan to pile surrounding debris on top.
  • Machi formed Five Elements Mountain, and the ground gave way beneath Maha, burying him under the enormous weight.

Ch. 223Maha Zoldyck's Heart-Ripping Killing Technique × Asura's Attack

Maha broke free from the mountain and fought “Machi,” who used powerful abilities to withstand his attacks and restore her body after he ripped out her heart. Maha launched another supersonic strike, but froze in disbelief when something unexpected happened to his hand.

  • Maha burst out of the mountain in a towering, muscular form and charged at “Machi.”
  • “Machi” repelled Maha, raised rocks to delay him, and fired a laser from her transformed hand, which Maha countered with concentrated Nen.
  • Maha pierced “Machi’s” chest and ripped out her heart, but realized it had never been beating and that she was already dead.
  • “Machi” blasted Maha away with Shinra Tensei, then used Yama: Samsara Rebirth to restore her chest and body.
  • Maha declared that he would tear “Machi” apart and launched another supersonic slash, but stared at his hand in disbelief.

Ch. 224The Truth-Seeking Orb × Alluka Zoldyck

"Machi" defeated Maha and the butlers at the Zoldyck estate, then found Alluka imprisoned in a hidden vault. She began using the Rinnegan on the unconscious girl, wondering whether Alluka had been injured when she attacked the real body.

  • "Machi" used a Truth-Seeking Orb to overwhelm Maha, then crushed him to death with a second orb.

  • Machi awakened Nanika, suppressed her with a Truth-Seeking Orb, and sealed her with the Eight Trigrams Seal.
  • With Nanika sealed, Alluka’s soul became independent, and Machi handed the sleeping girl to the Trial Gate’s guard before leaving.
  • Nara Dan and Biscuit discussed his upcoming deal and duel with Netero over a meal aboard the Hunter Association airship.
  • Nara Dan clarified that his seventy percent chance meant he could beat Netero to death, startling Biscuit.

Ch. 226A Conversation with the Second Body × How Nonhuman!
