Background / History

Bibi Dong grew up without parents and was taken in by Spirit Hall. After awakening Twin Martial Souls, she became Qian Xunji’s disciple and was later appointed Holy Maiden, with the right to inherit Spirit Hall. This was an exception to the institution’s traditional succession through the Qian Family 27.

Initially sheltered and inexperienced, she fell in love with Yu Xiaogang because she admired his apparent knowledge of Martial Soul theory. Her affection allowed him to access Spirit Hall’s archives. When he encouraged her to leave with him, Qian Xunji threatened to kill him if she departed, prompting Bibi Dong to send him away to protect him 11 26 27.

Qian Xunji subsequently raped her in the Secret Chamber, and Qian Renxue was born as a result. The assault profoundly changed Bibi Dong’s temperament and made her daughter a painful reminder of what had happened. When Qian Xunji returned heavily wounded from his failed hunt for Ah Yin, Bibi Dong killed him; both Tang Hao and Qian Renxue initially believed his death resulted from Tang Hao’s attack 27 45.

Bibi Dong also had a friendship with Ah Rou, Xiao Wu’s mother. Su Ming’s Diary reveals that Ah Rou sacrificed herself to Bibi Dong rather than being killed by her. Xiao Wu nevertheless witnessed Bibi Dong absorb her mother’s Soul Ring and Soul Bone, creating the basis for her desire for revenge 26.

She gradually abandons her obsession with him, distinguishes Qian Xunji’s crimes from Spirit Hall as an institution, and redirects her ambition from destroying Spirit Hall toward strengthening it and improving commoners’ lives 11 29 32 181.

Her reform-minded outlook does not make her merciful toward enemies. She deliberately humiliates and tortures Yu Xiaogang before ordering his execution, while using corruption investigations and public accusations to strengthen Spirit Hall’s position. Conversely, she cherishes Hu Liena, reconciles with Qian Renxue, and refuses to erase her daughter’s existence merely to pass a divine trial 23 428 537 546 649.
