Background / History
Dagon was among Kang Qiao's earliest giant-beast companions. When a smaller Water Lizard was brought north by Itakua, Dagon eagerly asked whether it was related to him, though he did not recognize it. 76
By the conflict with the Norse gods, Dagon had reached a height of roughly 4,200 meters. Despite his long-standing rivalry with Igu, he reacted with pity and anger when he found the Giant Serpent severely wounded, rebuking Cthulhu for considering Igu as food. 95
After entering the Divine Kingdom, Dagon retained a playful rivalry with Igu. He later advised that Igu receive the White Worm's blood food to support its growth, showing concern for his companion despite his reserved demeanor. 103 135
Appearance
Dagon is a colossal green reptilian deity whose size has increased dramatically throughout the story. In a later physical manifestation, he possesses a lizard-like body, a serpent tail, and skin covered in damp, repulsive slime. 235
- Coloration: Deep green physical body; sky-blue eyes in water-elemental form. 219
- Build: A heavy, powerful giant-beast physique suited to close-quarters combat. 95 219
- Elemental form: Can become a transparent, water-shaped version of himself, formed from immense quantities of summoned seawater. 184 219
- Ice armament: Can encase his arms and body in divinely reinforced ice crystals resembling armor. 219
Personality
Dagon is usually calm, composed, and restrained. He ignores Igu's provocations, is described as upright, and is fiercely intolerant of anyone blaspheming Kang Qiao. 210 276
Beneath this restraint, Dagon is proud, cold, and intensely battle-driven. He refused to flee from Sadhog-Hegla despite instinctively recognizing the vast difference in their power, and he regarded his battle with Yahweh as exhilarating. 184 219
His view of divine authority is rigid. Dagon expects absolute devotion from his followers and once questioned whether a priest would kill himself on command to prove his faith; he sees the Divine Kingdom as an afterlife open to true believers. 207
Dagon's loyalty to Kang Qiao increasingly defines his actions. Though he once hoped to match Kang Qiao's strength, he eventually accepted that his value lay in helping the Order Pantheon and ensuring that he did not burden his Sovereign. 221 His later handling of Ipotel also reveals a more pragmatic and benevolent side beneath his usual arrogance. 363
Abilities & Skills
Water Authority
Dagon commands water on a colossal scale, using it for offense, movement, defense, and physical reinforcement.
- Creates watery mirrors and spatial openings that release vast floods. 139 184
- Summons water tentacles that strike, pierce, coil around, and tear apart enemy warships. 184
- Can draw upon nearby planetary seas rather than manifesting water solely from divine power, making prolonged attacks comparatively low-cost while a sufficient water source exists. 184
- Gathered an ocean of at least three million square kilometers in the Sea of Stars when confronting Sadhog-Hegla. 184
Spatial Water Manipulation
Dagon's evolved authority combines water control with spatial power.
- Senses nearby water and summons it through spatial voids for immediate attacks. 184
- Can fill a broad area around himself with unpredictable water-bearing portals, making conventional evasion ineffective. 184
- Uses spatially summoned water to destroy Insectoid fleets and war fortresses without needing direct physical contact. 184
- Considered using the Divine Kingdom to imprison Sadhog-Hegla, but doubted whether it could contain an enemy capable of collapsing space. 185
Elementalization
Dagon can convert his body into a colossal water elemental form.
- Enlarges his effective body from tens of thousands of meters to approximately 150,000 meters in battle. 219
- Uses an ocean's waves and potential energy to propel himself through space and strike with amplified force. 185
- Retains a physical connection to surrounding water during attacks, allowing his elemental form to draw upon the mass and momentum of the sea. 185
- His authority manifestation can be amplified through the Divine Kingdom to vastly exceed his ordinary elemental scale. 377
Ice Creation and Close-Quarters Combat
Dagon uses ice as both armor and weaponry, complementing an aggressive hand-to-hand style.
- Generates rotating ice shields capable of intercepting lightning. 139
- Forms water into giant ice spears that can pierce divine shields and bodies. 139
- Creates reinforced ice gauntlets and full-body crystalline armor for melee combat. 219
- Trained in combat techniques during an earlier divine descent, allowing him to fight Yahweh evenly for an extended period despite ultimately being somewhat weaker. 219
Divine Kingdom Connection
As an Order Main God, Dagon is linked to Kang Qiao and the Divine Kingdom.
- Can use the Divine Kingdom as an anchor to escape dangerous spatial turbulence. 239
- Transmitted battlefield information directly to Kang Qiao through the Divine Kingdom. 222
- Temporarily merged his Essence with Kang Qiao and the other Order Gods, becoming part of the power that enabled Kang Qiao to devastate Yggdrasil. 221
Relationships
- Kang Qiao / Lava — Sovereign and elder-brother figure. Dagon is a steadfast supporter whose greatest satisfaction comes from being useful to Kang Qiao and the Order Pantheon. 221 276 362
- Igu — Long-standing rival and companion. Their conflicts are playful in later eras, and Dagon showed concern when Igu was badly injured and later supported Igu's growth. 95 103 135
- Hydra — Companion associated closely with Dagon. Hydra is described as peaceful and casual, contrasting Dagon's stern demeanor; they repeatedly fight and negotiate together. 276 372
- Itakua — Fellow Order Main God and battlefield ally. Itakua transported reinforcements to assist Dagon against Sadhog-Hegla. 185
- Yahweh — Initially his assigned sparring opponent during the Elder Gods' arrival. Their battle tested each other's strength, and Dagon later saved her from Cthulhu's attack. 215 219 220
- Basatan — Eighth God of Dagon's lineage, assigned to be guided and taught by Dagon. 210
- Hastur — Considered by Dagon to be effectively half a member of the Order Pantheon because of Kang Qiao's consideration for the Order Gods' feelings. 372
- Ipotel — Outer God offered a choice between joining the Order Pantheon or facing imprisonment or death. Dagon assigned Shudemel to supervise and guide him after he joined. 363
- Cthulhu — Fellow Main God with a contentious history. Dagon opposed Cthulhu when necessary, including subduing him after Cthulhu entered Kang Qiao's universe. 220 396
Story Role / Major Arcs
Battle against Hypnos
Dagon followed Kang Qiao and Igu in pursuit of Hypnos after the Elder God escaped the Underworld. He was caught in Kang Qiao's indiscriminate gravitational field before the group continued the pursuit. 138
During the ensuing battle against Hypnos's puppet gods, Dagon tested his newly awakened water-and-ice powers, destroying several enemy deities with ice spears and joining Igu in the assault. 139
Insectoid War and Sadhog-Hegla
Dagon single-handedly devastated Insectoid warships in the Sea of Stars, demonstrating the spatial-water authority that made him the strongest Order God beneath Kang Qiao in direct combat at the time. 184
Nyarlathotep then directed Sadhog-Hegla toward him. Dagon faced the vastly larger creature alone, summoned a starborne ocean, and attempted close combat before recognizing that Sadhog-Hegla's authority exceeded his own. Itakua, Hydra, Igu, and Idhaila arrived to assist him. 184 185
Conflict with the Elder Gods
Dagon fought Yahweh as part of Kang Qiao's planned show of force and attempt to assess her strength. Their elemental duel left both weakened, with Dagon acknowledging that Yahweh was slightly stronger. 215 219
When Kang Qiao merged the Essences of the Order Gods into himself against Yggdrasil, Dagon felt fulfilled at finally contributing to Kang Qiao's victory. 221
Leadership during Cthulhu's Sealing
After Cthulhu was sealed, Dagon arrived with Hydra, Idhaila, Basatan, nearly 1,300 gods and Divine Spark entities, and almost one hundred million angels. 371
Acting as the Order Pantheon's leader in Kang Qiao's absence, he confronted Nodens and Yad-Sadag, demanded the release of Hastur, the Vile Twins, and Kthila, and made clear that the Order Pantheon would pay the price of war if necessary. 372 373
When negotiations failed, Dagon entered spatial turbulence with the Order Pantheon and fought alongside its other Main Gods against nearly twenty mid-ranking Elder Gods. 377
Pillar God of the Divine Kingdom Universe
After the Divine Kingdom Universe formed, Dagon became one of its eight Pillar Gods. Alongside the other Main Gods, he stood above the Elder God Three Giants and participated in the gathering where deities chose between Kang Qiao's Order Universe and the Essence Universe. 399
