Nature

Qi is described as the fundamental essence composing the sun, moon, stars, living creatures, mountains, rocks, grass, and trees. Qi Cultivators refine and wield this essence through cultivation methods. 11

The Qi Refining lineage emphasizes Yin–Yang balance and the absorption of Sun and Moon Essence. Its practitioners are comparatively less dependent on a favorable natural environment than other cultivators, though the availability and purity of Primordial Qi still directly affect cultivation and recovery. 11 156 171

Primordial Qi

Primordial Qi is the energy associated with Daoist Qi Cultivators in combat and cultivation. Unlike cultivators reliant on local spiritual energy, Qi Cultivators can extract Primordial Qi even from barren or dead stars, granting them a major advantage during prolonged battles in the void. 156

In regions entirely devoid of Primordial Qi, however, a Qi Cultivator cannot replenish their reserves through normal means and must conserve energy. 171

Yin–Yang and Five Elements Qi

• Yin–Yang Qi — Maintaining its balance is essential to Qi cultivation. Lightning formed from Yin–Yang Qi is especially effective against spirit souls and yin spirits. 11 189
• Five Elements Qi — Metal, wood, water, fire, and earth correspond to the lungs, liver, kidneys, heart, and spleen. By nurturing and transforming these internal energies, cultivators may employ arts such as the Five Thunders Art. 99
• Origin Qi — A more fundamental energy that can be produced by converting other forms of Qi through the Return to Origin Supernatural Ability. 239

Qi Refinement

Qi refinement is the process of refining oneself and increasing harmony with Heaven and Earth. Greater harmony improves cultivation speed; those born with exceptional spiritual awakening may attain the Dao in a single day. 34

The Grand Cycle Qi Circulation Compendium follows an orthodox, stable route. Although its direct combat power is mediocre, it is capable of leading a practitioner to the Peak of Humanity and potentially beyond, toward immortality. 11

Documented Realm Structure

The Qi Cultivation Realm is divided into nine levels; a ninth-level cultivator may wield ten thousand jin of force and live beyond one hundred and fifty years without longevity elixirs. 6

Applications

Physical and Spiritual Enhancement

Upon reaching Spiritual Transformation, a Qi Cultivator's physical reactions and spirit soul are significantly strengthened, while tangible Qi within the dantian can be directly employed. 34

Divine Abilities

The Qi Refining lineage includes numerous Divine Abilities, including more than a dozen associated with the five senses alone. The Heavenly Eye can observe Qi, distinguish Yin from Yang, discern meridians, and potentially develop further uses such as cloud-riding and mist-driving. 22

• Object Manipulation — Refines a magical treasure that can only be wielded by its Qi Cultivator owner. 65
• Five Thunders Orthodox Method — Draws upon the Five Elements and Yin–Yang transformations to command thunder. 99 189
• Return to Origin — Converts all forms of Qi into Origin Qi, allowing Chu Zheng to benefit from energies belonging to different Daoist lineages. 239

Void Survival

Qi Cultivators are particularly suited to travel and battle in space. Their ability to draw Primordial Qi from otherwise barren locations gives them greater endurance than cultivators who cannot quickly replenish spiritual energy away from a living world. 156

Restrictions and Risks

• Qi cultivation methods are not freely transmitted; the Dao is subject to rules governing its inheritance. 10 65
• In the Azure Cloud Realm, cultivating the Qi Cultivation Method is regarded by Immortal Dao cultivators as an offense deserving death. 113
• Large-scale dissemination of Qi cultivation in the Chaos Sea may draw the Heavenly Dao's attention and trigger a Dao Tribulation capable of exterminating the local Human Race. 234
• Qi Cultivators seize Heavenly Fortune for themselves rather than sharing it with others. The path is consequently characterized as solitary. 175 256
• The Qi Cultivation lineage is difficult to expand; many Qi Cultivators only accept disciples when approaching the end of their lives. 256

Historical Significance

At one point in the Azure Cloud Realm, Chu Zheng was believed to be its only active Qi Cultivator and therefore held the Heavenly Fortune assigned to the Qi Refining lineage alone. 110

Golden Bodies of the Dao Ancestor are believed to preserve a path for revival: even if the Dao Ancestor's main body is destroyed, a surviving Golden Body may allow a return from death. 175
