Background / History
Chu Zheng was originally a modern cultural relic Restorer. He transmigrated into the Great Zhou Dynasty, occupying the body of a servant with the same name in the Song Manor. Immediately after arriving, he was punished for breaking the Eldest Young Lady’s jade cup and sentenced to four days without food or water. During this confinement, he awakened the Restoration Panel, which catalogued his cultivation and techniques and allowed him to repair incomplete objects and methods 1.
He initially cultivated in secret while serving the Song family. Song Lingxue provided him with resources and the Song family’s inherited martial arts, while Chu Zheng used the Panel to perfect the Dragon Tiger Body at extraordinary speed 16 17. After aiding Song Lingxue during the Song Manor attack, he demonstrated enough strength to kill Martial Grandmasters and was offered freedom from his servant status 19.
Chu Zheng later entered the immortal cultivation world through Grand Xuan Holy Land. His ability to repair damaged artifacts, pills, techniques, and injuries made him an increasingly valuable figure, while his cultivation repeatedly exceeded conventional limits. He eventually claimed the position of Grand Xuan’s chief true disciple and was recognized as its Holy Son 100 126.
His rise brought conflict with major Holy Lands. At the Immortal Martial Battlefield, he repaired thirty-six Heavenly Dipper remnant swords, formed the Lesser Five Elements Sword Array, and killed more than two hundred Soul Condensation cultivators, including a half-step Divine Infant. The Southern Domain thereafter regarded him as the foremost cultivator of his generation 121 123.
Across later journeys and incarnations, Chu Zheng cultivated the Qi Refining, Immortal, Incense Godhood, shamanic, and Yin Corpse paths. He established the faith of Zhengchu Dao Lord in the Eastern Origin Realm, used its Incense Wish Power to strengthen his Divine Soul, and ultimately severed the dangerous connection to the Incense Godhood Path after it became a liability 199 230 315.
Appearance
Chu Zheng’s appearance can be altered through control of his bones, facial structure, aura, and Primordial Qi. He is initially noted for an attractive appearance that draws Song Yun’s envy, while his rapid external cultivation broadens his shoulders 1 17.
- Can shrink his stature, reshape his facial bones, and convincingly imitate another person’s aura 71.
- Possesses Supreme-grade Yin Yang Immortal Bone and a Five Elements Spirit Body 148.
- His Water Dao Foundation’s transformation grants him a Water Spirit Physique 134.
- As a Flying Corpse incarnation, he develops green-to-purple fur and bone wings; after advancing further, his fur becomes golden before eventually shedding for pale ashen-gray skin 268 273 283.
- His Three Tribulation True Immortal transformation grants poison immunity and eternal youth 326.
Personality
Chu Zheng is calm, calculating, and highly adaptive. Upon transmigrating into a powerless servant’s body, he accepts his circumstances without panic and immediately turns the Filth Room assignment into an opportunity to study the Panel and cultivate in seclusion 1.
He is cautious with his identity and avoids unnecessary attention, such as deliberately lifting only a seven-thousand-jin cauldron during Phantom Spirit Sect recruitment. He regularly uses disguises, concealment, and indirect methods when open action would expose him 41 71 262.
Despite his pragmatism, Chu Zheng repays kindness and settles perceived debts. He remains grateful to Song Lingxue, buries the remains connected to the Profound Heaven Martial Wall, protects Shang Zuling because of his debt to Shang Cangyun, and assists strangers such as Little Ye when he can 16 121 319. He is also ambitious, openly desiring a worthy posthumous reputation and rejecting mediocrity 85.
