Background and History

The Phantom Spirit Sect has flourished in the Phantom Spirit Mountain Range for ten thousand years. Its territory spans a mountain range over thirteen thousand li long and is supported by a high-grade Spiritual Vein capable of sustaining more than ten thousand cultivators. Within several hundred thousand li, only two or three powers are considered its equals. 38

The sect initially intervened in the Song Family's troubles by sending Outer Disciple Fu Quanliang as aid. The intervention became entangled with Nightlight Pavilion, another Hidden Immortal Sect and the Song Family's actual enemy. 29

Song Lingqing later held the sect responsible for its part in her family's destruction and for the shattering of her Immortal Bone. She killed Xiao Yuanqing, then departed the sect; in response, the sect sealed its gates, forbade all departures, and began an internal investigation. 61 Much later, Lingqing met her former master Han Yuanqing and stated that she no longer bore a grudge against the sect. 243

Phantom Spirit City stands at the foot of the Phantom Spirit Mountain Range. Spanning nearly one hundred li, it serves as both the sect's entrance and a link between the immortal and mortal worlds. 38

The city houses descendants of sect cultivators who possess mortal flesh and bone rather than Immortal Bones. These bloodlines are considered a stable source of potential Immortal Seeds for the sect. 38

Conflict with Nightlight Pavilion

The sect prepared for war after losing an Immortal Seed with a High-grade Immortal Bone during the Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition. 54 Gu Chunyang and Feng Qiyuan resolved to protect Xiao Yuanqing, another holder of a High-grade Immortal Bone, even at the cost of war. 57

At the war council, Gu Chunyang demanded compensation from Nightlight Pavilion for a lost High-grade Immortal Bone and an injured elder. Nightlight Pavilion's master, Fang Lie, refused. Grand Void Holy Land envoy Ling Qi set the initial rules: Divine Infant cultivators could not intervene, and the loser would cede ten kingdoms. 57

The sect mobilized its reserves, opened the Spirit Beast Garden, and had Grand Elders and elders distribute resources and knowledge to prepare disciples for the coming conflict. 58

During the war buildup, sect forces also ambushed rogue cultivators and plundered smaller sects for cultivation resources and combat strength. 70 71
