Background
Song Lingqing is Song Tonghai's younger daughter and Song Lingxue's sister. As a child, she was withdrawn, spoke little, and was not notably gifted in the martial path. She entered an Immortal Sect at thirteen and remained away from Song Manor for more than three years. 5 100
Before departing Song Manor, she offered to fulfill one wish for Chu Zheng, who had served her for years. He requested books, including cultivation texts, rather than money or freedom; these materials later became important to his early pursuit of cultivation. 8
She secretly returned to Song Manor with her martial uncle, Immortal Qin Feng, before leaving the following day for the Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition. She concealed her return because the competition was dangerous and expected to last nearly ten years. 5
Within the Phantom Spirit Sect, Song Lingqing was presented as a true disciple with a High-grade Immortal Bone. Her actual cultivation progress, however, was far slower than such talent should permit. She eventually learned that her Immortal Bone had suffered two severe injuries, one of which she did not remember, and that this damage had crippled her expected path. 51 60
After losing her true-disciple status, Song Lingqing killed Xiao Yuanqing to avenge herself and obtain resources for her clan. She then left the Phantom Spirit Sect, recovered her belongings, and traveled toward Giant Marsh Country to search for her family. 61 96
A later Blood Pool trial activated her True Immortal Bloodline, transformed her Immortal Bone, and restored her momentum in cultivation. She declined Chu Zheng's Spirit Pills, choosing to overcome the Hidden Dragon Competition through her own efforts. 145 146
Appearance
Song Lingqing is described as an ethereal, immortal-tinged young woman whose appearance had changed markedly during her years in an Immortal Sect. 5
- Her presence gives Chu Zheng a faint sense of discomfort, though she does not carry the oppressive pressure of Immortal Qin Feng. 5
- During her search through Giant Marsh Country, she concealed herself with a thick hooded robe and repeatedly changed attire to avoid being tracked. 61 96
- After winning the competition, her body was covered in scars, while her eyes retained an unusually sharp brilliance. 242
Personality
Song Lingqing is reserved, cautious, and intensely self-reliant. She is unwilling to accept a future arranged around pity, protection, or dependence on others. When Song Lingxue implied that she might take her place beside Chu Zheng, Lingqing reacted with open anger and insisted that she did not need anyone's charity. 211
Her experiences in the Phantom Spirit Sect made her more ruthless and focused on debts, revenge, and securing resources for her family. Yet she is not defined solely by resentment: when she later met her former master Han Yuanqing, she stated that she held no grudge against the sect. 61 243
She seeks strength as a matter of personal dignity. After seeing Chu Zheng's rise, she reaffirmed her vow to reach the pinnacle of the Immortal Path so she would no longer need to look up at anyone. 241
