Background / History

Ancient era and decline

Azure Cloud Realm once contained a flourishing era in which a hundred schools of thought contended, including beings who surpassed the True Immortal Realm. It was once considered a notable, top-tier Great Realm in the universe. 157 204

A cataclysmic upheaval caused many lineages to leave the realm, after which Azure Cloud declined continuously. The large-scale introduction of Immortal Seeds into the Immortal Alliance further depleted its world origin. 157 204

The modern realm has been repeatedly cleansed until the Immortal Path became dominant and many other traditions disappeared. Remnants of those lost traditions endured primarily within the Azure Cloud Secret Realm. 134

Cultivation and Heavenly Fortune

Azure Cloud Realm has historically produced an unusually high number of exceptional Immortal Path talents. It can almost reliably nurture a True Immortal Seed every century and a Heavenly Lord every thousand-odd years, despite not being among the strongest Great Realms. 119

The Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition is held once every century and concentrates the realm's Heavenly Fortune upon its most outstanding young cultivators. Its inaugural winner, Shang Cangyun, later became an Immortal King. 119 134 207

• The realm is divided into four domains; the Southern Domain is the principal location of its major Holy Lands and sects. 307

Azure Cloud Secret Realm

The Azure Cloud Secret Realm was a sealed realm-within-a-realm created by an ancient Immortal King. Its environment preserved aspects of Azure Cloud's ancient era, including ruins and cultivation inheritances from traditions lost in the outside world. 134 148

The realm was first discovered by Shang Cangyun, who obtained an Immortal King inheritance there before winning the first Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition and rising to prominence. 134 148

• Its entrance was concealed behind incomplete Heaven Suppressing Immortal Patterns and included a crack only three chi wide. 148
• Its Heavenly Dao differed from that of modern Azure Cloud Realm, slowing Chu Zheng's Primordial Qi circulation and reducing his share of Heavenly Fortune. 148

During the Lineage War, a True Immortal-capable Space Channel opened in the North Sea. Azure Cloud cultivators led by Ji Yuyan fought Myriad Realms forces beyond the realm rather than risk unleashing Immortal Treasures within their fragile homeland. 154 155 156

The conflict brought multiple crises to the realm:

• Myriad Realms cultivators attacked through Space Channels, while the Azure Cloud side suffered heavy casualties in the starry-void battlefield. 157

• The Giant Marsh Country's channel was breached, releasing Evil Qi and causing widespread upheaval. 161

Current Political Landscape

The Southern Domain's former order has collapsed. Of its original five great Holy Lands, Tai Xuan was erased, Tai Xu sealed its mountains, and only Heavenly Palace and Golden Glaze remain as Holy Lands. 307

The Immortal Alliance stationed a Seventh Tribulation True Immortal in Azure Cloud Realm after Shang Cangyun defected, preventing surviving Holy Lands from immediately dividing the resources and influence left by the fallen powers. 307
