Background / History
The Immortal Alliance spans the Myriad Realms; from Chu Zheng’s perspective, the fate of an individual realm is insignificant beside its scale and authority 125. It oversees regions more important than the Azure Cloud Realm in great number, limiting the support it can spare during crises 156.
In the Azure Cloud Realm, the Alliance intervened in disputes among the Five Great Holy Lands by dispatching Immortal Envoy Ji Yuyan to convene their Holy Lords 92. It later announced the approaching Lineage War and imposed rules intended to prevent sects from dragging uninvolved people into the conflict 94.
The Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition serves as a source of True Immortal Seeds for the Alliance 188. Following an invasion through a breached Starry Sky Barrier, it issued a Transfer Order requiring Azure Cloud’s Five Great Holy Lands to organize an army for the Starry Sky Battlefield 188.
Authority and Organization
Punishment Department
The Punishment Department handles major investigations, warrants, internal scrutiny, and high-priority searches.
- It convened immediately after Chu Zheng became a True Immortal at age forty-two, bringing together available Immortal Venerables and Immortal Kings under Immortal Lord Panshi 306.
- Its meeting hall is arranged around six concentric circles of jade pillars; projections of distant members can manifest there across the void 306.
- The department treated locating Chu Zheng as its highest priority after the Immortal Ancestor inferred a possible connection between him and the Dao Ancestor 306.
- Chu Zheng later joined the department as an Inspector; his Inspector’s token records military achievements 332.
- Inspectors may be assigned combat duties with limited freedom to settle personal affairs first 332.
Envoys and Inspectors
- Ji Yuyan — Immortal Lord and envoy who conveyed Alliance policy to Azure Cloud’s Holy Lords, punished the Grand Void Holy Lord, and announced the Lineage War 94.
- Xiao Heng — Special envoy sent to investigate the use of an Immortal Treasure in Azure Cloud; later attempted to capture Chu Zheng with an Immortal Locking Ring 248 249.
- Fu Zhixuan — Inspector who recognized Chu Zheng, helped him reach an Alliance camp, and coordinated large-scale battlefield deployments 312 332.
- Immortal King Fanlong — Alliance Immortal King who eliminated You Biyue and accompanying Martial Sages, then questioned Chu Zheng with the Soul-Judging Jade 316 329.
Military and Support Departments
During major deployments, the Alliance coordinates cultivators across camps and distributes resources through specialized units.
- Artificer Camp — Distributes magic treasures and talismans to strengthen combatants 332.
- Divine Fire Camp — Distributes pills and other supplies during war preparations 332.
- High-level cultivators oversee the registration and recovery of True Immortal remains and exotic-treasure fragments after battles 194.
Policies and Practices
- Cultivators above the Nascent Soul Realm may act without authorization during the coming Lineage War; sects that involve innocents are held accountable 94.
- The Alliance is hostile toward Heterodox Path cultivators and places wanted individuals under significant pressure, even affecting the conduct of True Immortal Noble Families 116 119.
- Its Transfer Order required Azure Cloud’s participating army members to be above the Nascent Soul Realm and granted the realm half a year to prepare 188.
- After the first major battle, cultivators were offered a voluntary choice between returning to their original great realm or joining the front lines 195.
- Battlefield remains, damaged treasures, and fragments are subject to strict collection and registration procedures 194 195.
- The Alliance uses warrants, envoys, and arrest methods such as the Immortal Locking Ring against those it deems criminal or dangerous 249 301.
Major Conflicts
Lineage War and the Myriad Realms
The Alliance faced pressure after the Myriad Realms launched a sudden offensive. Ji Yuyan believed that, even if the Myriad Realms allied with All Heavens, support from the Martial Hall could prevent the situation from becoming hopeless 156.
A hostile force entered Alliance territory after an Immortal King-level battle breached the Starry Sky Barrier. The invaders, led by at least a Celestial Immortal-equivalent figure, plundered world resources and threatened Azure Cloud and nearby realms 188.
The Alliance’s initial battle against the All Heavens Myriad Realms nearly ended in defeat. Pei Hengxing of the Martial Hall reversed the outcome by killing three True Immortal-comparable opponents with two punches and one palm strike 194.
- The Alliance won but suffered heavy casualties and the destruction of magic arrays 194.
- It repaired the Heavenly Pass and organized cleanup operations afterward 194.
- Later reports placed the Alliance at an advantage in the wider war, though the conflict continued 161 262.
- By the later battlefield campaign, it accelerated deployments throughout the middle heavenly domain and prepared forces across hundreds of millions of miles 332.
Relations with the Martial Hall
The Martial Hall is an ally against foreign enemies, and its intervention in the early Myriad Realms battle left the Alliance indebted 194. However, the relationship remains strained: both sides have a history of provocation, and the narrative suggests an eventual conflict between Immortal and Martial factions may be unavoidable 194 316.
Immortal King Fanlong demonstrated the Alliance’s superiority over a small Martial force when he easily killed You Biyue and the other Martial Sages who targeted an Alliance camp 316.
Internal Affairs and Controversies
- Zhao Tingxian was expelled after failing in his duty; his clan’s bloodline was destroyed, and he fled into the Chaos Sea 161.
- The Alliance’s True Immortals investigated Zhao Tingxian’s bloodline and shared information on the Demon Realm and the breached Heavenly Dao Barrier with major factions 162.
- Shang Cangyun and Zhao Tingxian are regarded as traitors by Alliance figures investigating Chu Zheng 329.
- The East Victory Demon Immortal and Xiao Heng acted against Chu Zheng, exposing political conflict within or around the Alliance’s authority structure 248 250.
- The Alliance issued a warrant for Chu Zheng before later seeking his return after his rapid rise suggested a possible link to the Dao Ancestor 301 306.
Relationships
- Martial Hall — Allied military power against the All Heavens Myriad Realms; relations are cooperative but politically unstable 156 194 316.
- Azure Cloud Realm — A subordinate or protected realm that supplies True Immortal Seeds through the Myriad Sects Hidden Dragon Competition and receives Alliance orders 188.
- Five Great Holy Lands — Ordered to coordinate Azure Cloud’s army in response to the Myriad Realms invasion 92 188.
- Chu Zheng — Initially pursued through warrants and investigations; later aided by Alliance inspectors and recruited into the Punishment Department 249 312 332.
- Dao Ancestor — Historical enemy associated with an irreconcilable blood feud, though some within the Alliance view a possible connection through Chu Zheng as strategically valuable 306.
- All Heavens Myriad Realms — Primary wartime enemy in the ongoing struggle for territory and Heavenly Fortune 192 194.
