Background / History

Around 800 years ago, Imu was one of the twenty monarchs who opposed Joy Boy and the Lunarian Great Kingdom. Acting as the twenty nations' representative, she feigned an agreement with Joy Boy's first mate, Davy Jones: he would help defeat Joy Boy and become King of the World afterward. Once Joy Boy fell, Imu instead betrayed Davy Jones and joined the other kings in establishing the World Government. 305

Imu later proposed linking the world through a colossal bridge and carving it into a global magic array, allowing her power to reach every part of the world and secure eternal rule. Queen Lily rejected this plan, left Mary Geoise, and helped scatter the Poneglyphs. Lily later speculated that the array also required vast sacrifices to resurrect the sealed demon David. 304 305 316

According to Lily, Imu received immortality through an Ope Ope no Mi surgery performed by a contract-bound user. The surgery created an eternal space rather than unconditional immortality: Imu could remain immortal within the Holy Land's area, but her accumulated age resumed once she left it. 305 314

Imu's current appearance was not the one remembered by Lily. Combined with Saturn's knowledge that Imu had changed bodies and Junzi's role as a prospective replacement vessel, this indicates that Imu sustained herself through body changes. 272 306

Appearance

Imu's form varied between vessels, projections, and her true body. In the Flower Room dream, she appeared as a beautiful young woman with blood-red concentric-circle eyes, despite being over 800 years old. 186

Enies Lobby and the Roger Pirates

Imu descended through Junzi during the Enies Lobby conflict, manifested wings and a trident, and launched a high-speed assassination attempt on Roger. Their Conqueror's Haki clash sent waves hundreds of meters high across the sea. 79

Imu's Dream

Dimon, Roger, Rocks, and Harald intruded into Imu's dream within the Flower Room. Imu effortlessly defeated Dream Ace's incomplete Nika form, recognized the threat associated with the Nika Fruit, and awoke in the real world determined to locate and eliminate Ace. 185 186

World Conference Rebellion

Imu appeared before King Harald at the Empty Throne, demanded information about his immortality, and confronted him when he rejected the World Government's authority. Harald split Imu and the throne in two, but Imu regenerated, impaled him with her tail, and used Black Turn Domination. 219 221

War Against Dimon

After Dimon severed Junzi's contract communication, Imu possessed Junzi in Loguetown and fought him directly. Although she regenerated from Dimon's sword strikes and resisted Dark-Dark Fruit sealing through her vessel, Nefertari Lily disrupted the battle by detonating Junzi's body from within. 283 292

Imu responded by ordering war preparations against Alabasta, seeking to force Lily into the open. 293

Fall of Imu

As Dimon and his allies destroyed or severed the Five Elders' contracts, Imu descended into Doflamingo and then brought her true body outside Mary Geoise. Her true form was vastly stronger, but its departure from the immortal domain caused rapid aging. Dimon's Demon Form devastated the giant body and forced Imu into an aged state. 311 314

Imu vanished after declaring that Dimon had only gained her current body. Queen Lily later explained that David had abandoned Imu; deprived of the demon's power, she died, allowing Dimon to occupy the Empty Throne. 314 315 316
