Background & History

Mikoto was born to Uchiha Meiling and Misaka Shenxiao, heir to a Land of Fire noble family involved in lending, mortgages, pawnbroking, and commodity trade. After Shenxiao died under suspicious circumstances while conducting business, Mikoto and her mother returned to the Uchiha clan, where Meiling continued managing the family’s remaining Konoha-area businesses. 3 20

At age fourteen, Mikoto was a Chūnin leading three genin during the Sand front of the Third Shinobi World War. Her supply-escort unit was separated from the main force and attacked by Sand ninja; poison claimed several of her comrades. Uchiha Fucheng intervened, saving Mikoto’s group from a puppeteer and other Sand ninja. 2 4

Mikoto remained behind to protect her surviving teammates during Gari’s Explosion Release attack. When Fucheng appeared to die in the resulting blast, she attempted to rush into the flames and mourned what she believed was his sacrifice. Her devotion completes Fucheng’s follower contract, binding her fate to his and altering the future trajectories of herself, Itachi, and Sasuke. 5 6

Fucheng’s later near-death experience while Fugaku was wounded triggers Mikoto’s One-Tomoe Sharingan. After the Sand campaign, she leads a squad with Hezi, Jiangyi, and Nonō, initially assigned to care for injured Uchiha ninja and trained with advanced ninjutsu scrolls. 11 13

Following Fucheng’s rise as Uchiha clan head, Mikoto agrees to marry him and changes her name from Misaka Mikoto to Uchiha Mikoto for their engagement. During the ceremony, she receives the Electro Master power, transforming her combat role from a conventional Lightning Release user into a high-output electromagnetic specialist. 20 24

During the Land of Rain campaign, Mikoto develops the Misaka Network from converted White Zetsu-based Sisters. The network becomes a reconnaissance and battlefield-communications system for the Uchiha forces. She later eliminates the poison user Kai Muyu with a Railgun and destroys the secret passage sheltering Nagashima Ryosuke. 31 36 48

Appearance

Mikoto initially has black hair and black eyes, and is commonly seen in standard Chūnin combat gear. After becoming an Electro Master, her hair changes to a brown or chestnut color. 2 24 50

Personality

Mikoto is resilient and protective. Although initially outmatched by the Sand ninja she faces, she keeps herself between danger and the genin under her command, choosing to stall an unknown Explosion Release user until reinforcements can arrive. 2 4

She is direct and spirited, with a toughness compared to that of a boy, but also possesses a gentle and considerate side. Her limited experience outside Konoha leaves her somewhat naïve in social and business matters, including her initial habit of retrieving weapons from enemy bodies. 3 20

Mikoto is deeply attached to Fucheng and becomes distressed when he is endangered. She also forms a strong sense of kinship with the Misaka Sisters despite initially being unsettled by their identical appearances and independent personalities. 6 26 29

She becomes easily embarrassed when Fucheng is affectionate in front of others, particularly the Sisters who share fragments of her memories. 50
