Ning Fengzhi was introduced as the teenage heir apparent of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect: handsome, elegantly mannered, and dressed in immaculate finery. At the time, his father Ning Zhen was sect master, while Ning Fengzhi was regarded as the sect’s future leader 8.

As a youth, Fengzhi strongly supported the sect’s effort to obtain the Twin Martial Soul genius offered through Martial Soul Hall. He believed the sect’s wealth could resolve any resource-related obstacle and requested to accompany Ning Zhen to Martial Soul City to see the genius himself 9. After the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect won custody of Bibi Dong, he initially regarded her as both a valuable sect asset and a potential future wife 9 14 21.

During Ning Zhen’s secret agreement with Emperor Xue Ye, Fengzhi initially questioned why the sect would surrender carefully cultivated geniuses to the imperial family. His father’s explanation—that the pact could be exploited to build a Ning-controlled power base and eventually challenge Heaven Dou’s throne—awakened Fengzhi’s own ambition 12 13.

He later succeeded Ning Zhen as sect master after a period of severe internal and external instability, including the deaths of Sect-Protecting Douluo Yuan Lie and Ning Zhen 77. Having lost Dugu Bo, much of the sect treasury, and its political standing, Fengzhi was attacked by the Holy Spirit Cult, defeated, and captured by Bibi Dong 275 282 283 284. Publicly, the sect announced that he had resigned and entered closed-door cultivation to atone for his failures; in reality, Bibi Dong kept him imprisoned and subjected him to torture 288 292.

The Holy Spirit Cult’s torture eventually destroyed Fengzhi’s mental defenses. Tang Hao exploited his despair by revealing that Qian Xunji had manipulated the events that brought Bibi Dong and Yu Xiaogang into the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, reducing Fengzhi’s former calculations to part of the Pope’s larger scheme 316. His original response to Xue Ye’s thirty-year pact was not open defiance, but an attempt to fulfill it in a way that could place a Ning heir near Heaven Dou’s throne 139 140 144.

He is adept at maintaining a benevolent public persona. In Soul Hunting Town, he distributed relief supplies, blamed another sect for a beast tide, and recruited rogue soul masters while improving the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect’s public standing 197. He also speaks respectfully to valuable allies such as Dugu Bo and personally welcomed him into the sect after his breakthrough 188.

Behind this façade, Fengzhi is vindictive and controlling. He imprisoned Yu Xiaogang after the latter’s failed assassination attempt, had his right arm severed, and refused to release him until Qian Xunji personally intervened 119 120. He also kept Bibi Dong captive because he feared her power and potential defection, repeatedly using threats and coercion to retain control over her 173 213.

Fengzhi is willing to sacrifice subordinates when the sect’s survival or a sufficiently valuable reward is at stake. Heir to the Sect

As Ning Zhen’s son, Fengzhi learns of the sect’s covert ambition to exploit Bibi Dong’s Twin Martial Souls and eventually supplant the Heaven Dou imperial family 12 13.

He supports the effort to purchase Bibi Dong’s guardianship from Martial Soul Hall, recognizing that the sect’s wealth could secure a peerless genius and future protector 9 14.

During the preparations in Martial Soul City, he helps assess the sect’s bidding resources. Despite their liquid capital and two Ten-Thousand-Year Soul Bones, he warns Ning Zhen that their wealth may not provide a decisive advantage against competing factions in acquiring what Martial Soul Hall values 11.

Control of Bibi Dong and the Heaven Dou Pact

After becoming sect master, Fengzhi uses Bibi Dong’s status and bloodline to produce heirs. When Xue Ye presses the old thirty-year agreement, Fengzhi plans to use a child born to Bibi Dong as the “genius” promised to the imperial family, with the ultimate goal of replacing the imperial bloodline with his own 139 140 144.

During Bibi Dong’s first pregnancy, her performance as a warm and obedient wife persuades Fengzhi to improve her living conditions substantially. She moves into his bedroom, receives the sect’s finest provisions, and regains access to normal cultivation after Gu Rong lifts her Soul Power seal 91. Fengzhi waits anxiously outside during Ning Rongrong’s birth and later welcomes Qian Xunji’s congratulatory visit 93 94.

Fengzhi later names his son Ning Chengjiu in the hope that he will achieve the Nine Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda. Chengjiu’s awakening of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda, Soul-Eater Spider Emperor, and Innate Full Soul Power convinces Fengzhi that his political and sectarian ambitions can be fulfilled 143 213.

Conflict with Yu Xiaogang and Qian Xunji

Yu Xiaogang’s failed attempt on Fengzhi’s life leads to his imprisonment in the sect dungeon. Fengzhi tries to conceal the matter from Qian Xunji but is overwhelmed by the Pope’s level-99 pressure and compelled to reveal Xiaogang’s location 119 120.

The abuse inflicted upon Yu Xiaogang and Bibi Dong strengthens the enmity of Yu Xiaogang, Yu Yuanzhen, and eventually Tang Hao toward the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect 129 214.

Hunt for A-Zhu and Tang San

Fengzhi mobilizes Chen Xin, Gu Rong, and Bibi Dong to hunt A-Zhu, a hundred-thousand-year Man Faced Demon Spider Emperor in human form. He intends to seize both her soul ring and bone, kill Tang Hao, and abduct their newborn child for the sect 148 149 150.

Rather than attack immediately after confirming A-Zhu’s identity, he waits until she gives birth, seeking to obtain the child as well as her cultivation resources while she is vulnerable 148 149 150.

The plan is disrupted by Yu Yuanzhen. Fengzhi later secures A-Zhu’s hundred-thousand-year spirit ring for Bibi Dong, but loses the soul bone to Yu Yuanzhen and becomes entangled in conflict with the Clear Sky Sect 151 166.

Qian Xunji subsequently takes the abducted infant from the sect. Fengzhi and Chen Xin remain suspicious of the Pope’s motives and make further defensive arrangements in anticipation of retaliation from the Clear Sky Sect 171.

Expansion of Sect Strength

Following Gu Rong’s loss, Fengzhi seeks a replacement high-level combatant by helping Dugu Bo overcome the poison backlash of the Jade Phosphorous Serpent. Dugu Bo subsequently joins the sect and reaches the Titled Douluo rank after absorbing the Nether Sky Poison Python 175 188 201 203.

During the hunt for the Nether Sky Poison Python, Fengzhi supports Chen Xin and Bibi Dong so that they can lead the battle while Dugu Bo preserves his strength for absorbing the ring 193. Once Dugu Bo reaches rank 91 and his martial soul evolves into the Jade Phosphorous Serpent Emperor, Fengzhi recognizes the mass-combat deterrence of his new ninth soul skill and declares that the sect’s rise has begun 203.

Fengzhi’s recruitment of Dugu Bo restores the sect’s high-level combat power and allows the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to recover much of its former strength, though Dugu Bo’s later death leaves the sect dangerously weakened again 212 275.

Raising the Next Generation

Fengzhi places his hopes in Ning Rongrong and Ning Chengjiu, whose spider-emperor martial souls can compensate for the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda’s inherent limitations. He especially favors Chengjiu, whose Twin Martial Souls and Innate Full Soul Power make him central to Fengzhi’s plans for the sect and Heaven Dou 213 220 242.

He sends Chengjiu to Shrek Academy despite Chen Xin’s concerns, believing that the academy’s dangers and conflicts will temper the boy into a successor capable of carrying the sect’s future 242 243.

To reduce the danger posed by Shrek’s hostile leadership, Fengzhi secretly assigns Dugu Bo to protect Chengjiu and relies on the boy’s imperial designation as an Emperor-Bestowed Genius. He reasons that harming Chengjiu in Heaven Dou City would challenge imperial authority and endanger Shrek’s relationship with the empire 242.

Conflict in Heaven Dou City

After a Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect disciple harasses Xiao Wu, Fengzhi personally travels with Dugu Bo to confront Tang San and Yu Xiaogang. He supports Dugu Bo with the Seven Treasure True Body and attempts to use the dispute as an opportunity to obtain Tang San’s hidden weapons 228 229 234.

The confrontation results in serious injuries to both Fengzhi and Dugu Bo, imperial scrutiny of the sect, and Bibi Dong’s eventual escape from Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect custody 230 233 236.

At the imperial hearing, Fengzhi accepts responsibility for rebuilding and compensation costs rather than continue arguing with the emperor 235. Back at the sect, he orders continued surveillance of Yu Xiaogang and Tang San, regarding the latter’s ability to kill without Soul Power as a potential threat to the sect’s long-term plans 236.

Beast Tide and Political Collapse

After Chengjiu identifies Xiao Wu as a transformed hundred-thousand-year soul beast, Fengzhi mobilizes sect forces, Chen Xin, and Dugu Bo in pursuit of her. The operation contributes to another massive Beast Tide in the Star Dou Great Forest 264 265 273.

He initially stations his principal group in concealment near the Lake of Life and sends Soul Sages to gather information without engaging the soul beasts. His plan is to wait for Tang Hao to fight the forest kings, then exploit the chaos 267. Even after the deaths of two Soul Sages, he considers the losses acceptable if the operation yields a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Bone 268.

Facing the forest kings’ wrath, Fengzhi attempts to offer Dugu Bo’s life as compensation. Although he survives, the sect loses Dugu Bo, Chengjiu’s Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Bone, and much of its public credibility 275 276 280.

Seven Fiends Blood-Devouring Pagoda

The Holy Spirit Cult continues to torture Fengzhi until his body is physically restored but his mind is rendered hollow. Tang Hao then reveals the extent to which Qian Xunji allegedly orchestrated the sect’s downfall, including Bibi Dong’s placement in the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect and Yu Xiaogang’s arrival 316.

To turn Fengzhi into a weapon against Martial Soul Hall, Tang Hao infuses him with the souls of nearly one hundred dark beasts. Fengzhi accepts the corruption, and his Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda becomes the Seven Fiends Blood-Devouring Pagoda 316.

The mutated martial soul can grant amplification at the cost of vital blood. Tang Hao consequently asks Fengzhi to help recruit Chen Xin, though Fengzhi’s response does not amount to an unambiguous pledge of loyalty 317.
