Background / History

Yu Yuanzhen initially supports his son Yu Xiaogang after learning that Luo Sanpao is a beneficial mutation rather than a useless martial soul. He opens the clan’s Library Pavilion to Xiaogang without restriction, allowing him to pursue research into martial soul mutations and theory 21.

Qian Xunji later helps arrange Yu Xiaogang’s entry into the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect to continue his studies. Though initially suspicious of the Pope’s generosity, Yu Yuanzhen becomes deeply grateful after witnessing Qian Xunji restore Xiaogang’s confidence and personally escort him into the sect 25.

As sect master, Yu Yuanzhen is proud, forceful, and deeply protective of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan’s standing. His defining trait is his devotion to Yu Xiaogang. His guilt over neglecting his son drives him to hunt soul beasts for rare soul bones, seek resources at personal risk, kneel before Qian Xunji, submit his clan to Martial Soul Hall, and endure watching Xiaogang fight a brutal arena battle 99 101 118 132 135.

After joining Martial Soul Hall, he becomes notably deferential to Qian Xunji.
