Background & History

Zhu Zhuqing was one of the Shrek Seven Devils who descended to the lower realm and exchanged bodies with Zhu Lu. Living under Zhu Lu's identity, she accompanied the latter's mother to the White Tiger Duke Mansion for a proposed marriage alliance with the Dai Clan. The arrangement was not compulsory, as the Zhu and Dai Clans stood as political equals in the Star Luo Empire. 13 62

Her life as Zhu Lu gave her a sense of freedom that she had lacked before. Disappointed by Dai Huabin and Dai Yueheng, she resolved to live for herself rather than remain bound by her past regrets. 13

As Zhu Lu, she passed Shrek Academy's assessment and joined the Outer Court Elite Class alongside Xiao Xiao and Wang Dong'er. 47 She later joined Gu Yuan's group on a trip to Treasure Pavilion and received his cultivation advice concerning Twin Martial Souls. 66

Gu Yuan healed her dislocated wrist before arranging a seven-person expedition to obtain her second soul ring. Using the divine legacy she had left in the Zhu Clan ancestral hall, Zhu Zhuqing manifested before the clan and empowered the Duke of Nether to break through to Rank 90. She then ordered him to bring Zhu Lu to the clan and formally invite Gu Yuan with the respect due to a divine ancestor. 152 153

When Gu Yuan and Zhu Lu entered the ancestral hall, Zhu Zhuqing condensed her divine will into a clear humanoid form and revealed that she had been the one inhabiting Zhu Lu's body. She told Zhu Lu of her past, confessed her feelings for Gu Yuan, and framed her former life with Dai Mubai and Tang San as a life in which she had been denied the freedom to choose for herself. 154 155

Zhu Zhuqing subsequently offered Gu Yuan resources from her divine legacy, including Immortal Herbs and the jade-slip method for refining the Universe Creation Pill. She also proposed helping him ascend to the God Realm, intending to use his future ascension to challenge Tang San and reshape the God Realm's balance of power. 156

While Zhu Lu's body refined Immortal Herbs to reach Rank 50, Zhu Zhuqing was refining the Hundred Flower Brew in the God Realm. This triggered another exchange, returning Zhu Zhuqing to Zhu Lu's body in the lower realm. After reuniting with Gu Yuan through her divine manifestation, Zhu Zhuqing becomes increasingly calculating in protecting her desired future. She presents a selectively embellished account of her past to win Zhu Lu's sympathy and privately plans to support Gu Yuan's ascension while preventing his other companions from accompanying him to the God Realm. 155 156
