Tang San awakens with memories from his prior existence as the Sea God and a God King. The revelation that Xiao Wu—his former beloved—is now Tang Hao's wife and his own mother leaves him unable to accept his new life. He abandons the village and seeks out Yu Xiaogang, the only person he believes might provide emotional support. 186 187

With no money and unable to claim Martial Soul Hall's soul master subsidy, Tang San returns to stealing. He is caught after using Dai Mubai's name, then ultimately becomes a prisoner in a Martial Soul Hall mine. 188 189 195

While imprisoned, he attempts to use a ten-year Grass Snake to break his bottleneck. Rather than take an incompatible soul ring, he forms his first Soul Spirit and develops Instant Strike. Bibi Dong observes the process and records the contract method. 204 205
