Ye Lingling is Dugu Yan's closest friend. She first appears accompanying Dugu Yan after the two return from shopping in Heaven Dou City; the pair are notably comfortable together, walking arm in arm and sharing Dugu Yan's frustrations over Jiang Liang 23.

Dugu Yan later keeps Ye Lingling at Dugu Bo's residence while Jiang Liang trains there. Ye Lingling cultivates alongside Dugu Yan, finds Jiang Liang and Dugu Yan's constant bickering entertaining, and helps bring meals to Jiang Liang 27. She is thoughtful toward the people around her.
