Akatsuki retains memories of a past life and knowledge of the tragedies awaiting the Uchiha clan. The prospect of the clan's future annihilation drives his determination to alter fate, beginning with protecting Itachi, Obito, and Rin. 6 11

Fugaku names him Uchiha Akatsuki and adopts him as his eldest son after requiring him to accept the clan's expectations. The name's “Aka” is described as representing those who guard the clan in darkness; Fugaku orders him never to betray the clan and to cherish his family. 5 He subsequently leaves his unnamed mother's home and moves into the Uchiha clan head's estate, where Fugaku begins preparing him for early graduation and the burden of reviving the clan. 6
