Background / History

First Transmigration and Wuxie’s Creation

Before her first transmigration, Shaohua was an ordinary villager. Arriving in a war-torn world where cultivation was possible, she hoped to distinguish herself in battle and be remembered in history. When her cultivation stalled at an intermediate stage, she broke into an imperial palace’s forbidden-arts chamber in search of another path 403.

There she found a text describing the separation of a person’s Shannian, or good aspect, from their Evil Side. Although the text warned that separation could bring disaster, annotations claimed that the method greatly accelerated cultivation and allowed the good aspect to command the evil aspect as a puppet. Shaohua ignored her system’s warnings and performed the technique 403.

Her consciousness remained in the good aspect, while the Evil Side initially obeyed her. As it grew stronger, it developed independent consciousness, named itself Wuxie, and escaped her control. Shaohua discovered that injuring Wuxie also injured herself: their separate personalities still belonged to one being 201 403.

Attempted Sacrifice and Reincarnation

Wuxie’s increasing strength gradually weakened Shaohua. The God of Cookery System explained that their powers existed in a balance; if either side became overwhelmingly stronger, the other could eventually disappear. Seeing the villagers harmed by Wuxie, Shaohua decided that she had to take responsibility for the consequences of her own forbidden cultivation 352.

Rather than follow the system’s plan to seal Wuxie, strengthen herself, and eventually reunite their aspects, Shaohua began burning her soul, which caused Wuxie to burn as well. The system preserved Shaohua’s consciousness, making her later reincarnation possible. Accounts of the confrontation also describe her expending her power and vitality to seal Wuxie, leaving her severely weakened 352 387.

Shaohua’s former life included a thousand years of solitude. People called her the Immortal Demon King, a title associated with evil that frightened others away; her earlier friends had died because their lifespans were shorter than hers 122.

Arrival on the Douluo Continent

Shaohua intended to return to her original world after an earlier transmigration mission, but something went wrong and she arrived on the Douluo Continent instead. When she met Shangguan Li, she said she had been there for only a month and already owned Heaven Dou City’s Happy Milk Tea Shop 234.

The two recognized each other as transmigrators through a coded exchange. Their shared knowledge of the original novel and opposition to Tang San quickly established a sisterly friendship. Shangguan Li offered Shaohua a place in her home, where Shangguan Lin welcomed her warmly 43 234.

Appearance

  • Pink hair and a female body 234.
  • Attractive appearance: Dugu Yan calls her pretty when they are introduced, which feels awkward to Shaohua because of her previous male identity 4.
  • Publicly youthful: Ning Rongrong describes her and Shangguan Li as twenty-one-year-old Spirit Saints 336.

Personality

Shaohua is playful and outspoken with Shangguan Li, teasing her about her inability to recognize romantic interest and defending herself when accused of flirting. She also encourages Shangguan Li to stop hiding her strength and live more openly 17 57 380.

As a mentor, she combines protection with an insistence on independence. She honors her promise to shelter Zhu Zhuqing, but refuses to let her disciple rely entirely on her teachers. She restricts the public use of Zhuqing’s external soul bone because it could attract assassins, while recognizing that excessive protection would undermine her growth 57 86 346.

Her caution often becomes ruthless pragmatism. She urges decisive action against Tang San, supports memory manipulation, and recommends abandoning Yin Lan when her attachment to Tang Hao threatens their faction 8 56 333. Yet her own history exposes a tension between this decisiveness and self-preservation: attacking Wuxie means harming herself, a consequence she initially cannot bear 403.

Guilt increasingly dominates her private life. She fears that revealing the selfish ambition behind Wuxie’s creation will cost her Shangguan Li’s friendship, and struggles to accept forgiveness. Her desire to protect Shangguan Li ultimately leads her to conceal a dangerous journey and consider sacrificing herself again 44 96 146.
